I'm too cheap to buy expensive mittens, lol, so I use hand warmers in my gloves and they do the trick for me. I've even put them in my boots if I plan to be outside for any length of time. But several years ago I bought a wool hat at a small independent Irish clothing store that keeps my head/ears warm and cozy.

Reminds me of the Laura Ingalls books…she’d put hot potatoes in her pockets, which doubled as lunch later on!

I have tried warmers in mittens but my thumbs can’t seem to stay warm. I have had frostbite in the past in one of my thumbs though.

I bought a couple of statues on marketplace.. both for $10.
(I should say I'm a yogi and have a lot of these types of things)

They had been sprayed with silver paint and I was pretty sure that underneath was brass and fine detail.
A boiling pot of vinegar and a good scrub and voila!

The Ganesha isn't one of the modern 'pretty' ones and judging by that and what's depicted, I think he's pretty old.
Siva is shown in a pretty unusual way too.
Very happy with my find!

My positive is receiving an e-mail that our vet's office just hired a new feline vet. It's a feline only clinic and they have been having difficulty finding a new vet ever since the pandemic when two other vets retired. The vet shortage has definitely put a strain on the two remaining vets so it will not only be helpful for them but all the other kitties who are patients. :lovecat2:

Having a lovely quiet morning. During yesterday’s wind storm the only birds or wildlife out were a couple juncos so I put out a sunflower and peanut feast for them. Today the wind is quiet, the sun is out and all the other winter birds are out. Lola and I are enjoying watching them all.

A follow up. Some very very hungry squirrels have joined the party, digging through the snow for the treats the birds missed. They haven’t been out since Wednesday or Thursday.

I'm getting ready to bake for a Christmas/holiday brunch tomorrow. I'm a little nervous because I'm trying a new recipe I saw in Sunday's Parade magazine a few months ago. Hopefully it will turn out but I have a back up plan if it doesn't so everything should be okay. :crossfingers:

According to the first vet I spoke to, my cat should have passed 368 days ago, and he is still doing fine, thank you very much, The SECond vet I spoke to gave me several mediations, and he is yes elderly but thoroughly enjoying life. …Just to say, it really really matters to get that second evaluation, if you have any lingering doubts!

Got my Christmas decorations put away and my Winter decor out and put up around the kitchen and living room. Tomorrow I have to undecorate the Christmas tree and drag it into the woods.

Something about this just struck me as hilarious.
