I took an at home covid test today because yesterday I started feeling very congested and had a headache. It came back positive. I still have some congestion and am feeling a bit tired but overall I don't feel all that bad. I was vaccinated awhile ago although I still haven't had the booster. I've contacted my doctor to see what my next steps should be. But when I let my boss know, she said since I am vaccinated and not feeling bad then I can do ahead and go to work tomorrow. And while I do feel okay, I really don't want to be spreading this. It seems irresponsible to say I should come into work (I work in multiple grocery stores as a merchandiser so I could definitely expose others). I have another at home test. My dad says I should take it tonight. I just don't want to get in trouble with work if I decide I shouldn't go tomorrow. Hopefully my doctor messages me back soon.. Idk what to do.

If you tested positive, it doesn't matter if you're vaccinated. . .you don't go to work and expose people. The recommendations are, if you're exposed and are vaccinated you don't have to isolate, but if you test positive, of course you do. I don't know what your boss is thinking. Hopefully your doctor will say you're not fit to work or whatever the proper process is.

I know they have been shortening quarantine times. Here in Ohio anyway healthcare workers are down to a 5 day quarantine.

Yes that is what I thought too. I'm even isolating myself from my family. It makes no sense for me to go to work tomorrow after testing positive when I can very well expose others even though I do wear a mask. Seems risky. But I also cannot afford to fight with my boss about it. I do really need my job. I hope I can get some guidance from my doctor before tomorrow.

I tested positive and tomorrow is my last day of quarantine. I had to be isolated for 10 days. I live in assisted living and I can't wait to get out of this room. Unfortunately, I have a roommate and she tested positive 2 days ago. We have separate bedrooms but we share a kitchenette and bathroom. She is bed ridden so I pretty much have the bathroom and kitchenette to myself. She is 99 years old and I can't help but think I gave it to her. The only symptom I've notice is that she has a mild cough.

I’ve been wondering how you were feeling. Since your roommate now tests positive, do you have to continue your quarantine? I hope you both come through it safely. :hugs:

That seems to be the norm with this variant at least for those who are vaccinated. It's like a cold and that seems to be true regardless of age or underlying conditions. I think ten days is still the CDC recommendation but they are looking at shortening it. Some essential places have gone ahead and shortened it because of staffing issues. I think in Ohio the Cleveland Clinic system was the first to go to 5 days.

Thanks. I am worried about her. She does not seem to be very sick. Just the mild cough. I don't have to be quarantine anymore. It's nice to be able get out and talk to people.

I am glad you are out of quarantine. The CDC just cut the quarantine after a positive test to 5 days as long as there are no symptoms.

This would be the time for a small white lie. Call in the morning and say you are feeling much worse and are too sick to come in.

I had slightly more of a reaction to the booster shot. I got it on Sunday morning. By Sunday night my arm was very sore and stiff, I could barely lift it. I took an Aleve before bed and in the morning it was still sore but not stiff. On Monday it was still pretty sore but not so bad I couldn't function. Tuesday I was fine. But I had very little soreness from the first 2 so I'm kind of relieved my immune system got all in an uproar this time, lol.

I have been told that the Administration wants to mail a packet of at-home tests to every household. I'm not sure if it'll actually happen, but it would be interesting if so. We did a test run maybe 10 years ago, pretending to deliver iodine tablets in case of a nuclear situation, so this would be a good experience for the newer employees.

I've had a few too many "Is it allergies or is it Covid?" days so I was happy to find some at-home tests to tuck away for the next time I am wondering.
I normally sneeze a few times a day and regularly have a sore throat due to crappy tonsils, especially at night, so I probably suspect I may be coming down with COVID on a regular basis. Always, at least so far, wake up feeling fine. The thing is, even if I tested positive I am not sure at this point what I would do. Not go out for sure and wait a couple days to see how I feel, which I would probably do anyway if I didn’t have a test to take.

I had a Covid scare yesterday... Suddenly, mid afternoon, I got the 'queasy' stomach.. which kept on intensifying to the point that I was in the bathroom, barfing.. violently..

Stomach hurt, I was literally shaking.. All that ran through my mind was ---Covid.
We were given rapid tests kits. I wanted to save it, until I really needed it...

Debating.... I ended up using one of the tests--2 in a pack...
Negative!!! Hooray.. But I ended up cancelling my cleaning person...
Took out the SmartWater, to sip... still drinking that..

But I was sick all the rest of the afternoon, until around 8pm.... I still felt horrible... hot, chilled, no temp...
Up until 2am... could not sleep...

I normally have GI issues, but this was so weird... almost like a 24 hour bug...
Still taking it easy today... No Sunday Mass for me... I have a ton of laundry to do.. but it will wait until tomorrow....

Going to eat very blandly today...

It was weird, as soon as I opened a jar of tomato sauce, My stomach started. It must have been on the 'edge' and was just timing.... no sauce today..

I have a chicken breast that needs to be cooked. One half will go in freezer, along with sauce...

Geoffrey was so good.. He did not bother me at all.. He stayed on the bed, cuddling me..and did not bother me for playing.....

Strange... he had 4 episodes of vomiting, Thursday.... wonder??????? contagious???

Is there anything both of you might have eaten, like lunch meat? Almost sounds like food poisoning.

Geoffrey does not eat people food. His dishes are separate... G eats prescription food... no treats..

I know, it almost sounds like food poisoning. The only thing I can think of is the Almond Milk Eggnog.. But the expiration date was Jan 29, 2022..... He never got into the eggnog.

I have not had a salad for several days.... he is eating the same food.. same batches of wet and dry.

I wash dishes in the hottest water available.. rinse them well-- no dishwasher.

I had several days of a lot of sneezing, nose was stuffy and runny, headache, throat a bit sore, generally didn't feel too great. So I sent for a Covid test and still waiting to get the results. I'm guessing it's taking a little while because of New Years/Weekend. Anyway, I feel much better. Still a bit of sneezing occasionally. I rarely go anywhere, but I was at the doctors, grocery store twice, and lowes hardware before starting this. I'm fully vaccinated with booster, and always wear a mask, but who knows.

Some food-borne illnesses incubate for up to 2 weeks before causing symptoms. So most of the time the source can't even be identified. Or it could be low-symptom COVID. Hope it was a one-off and you feel better soon!

Supposedly, COVID doesn't cause sneezing. Idk if that's always true but my brother didn't have sneezing as a symptom. He had aches and fever and a dry cough.

ETA: nevermind! I guess sneezing IS a symptom of Omicron. Stupid virus keeps mutating. . .
Omicron symptoms could seem like a cold — but don't underestimate this variant, experts warn

I know someone who just had GI issues with CoVid.

Feeling much better now. Had some chicken breast, which I roasted and a baked potato. Bland, but good for me.
