Our big snow ended overnight. Roads were cleared by morning, sun came out, temps in the upper 20’s and by noon everyone was out doing usual pre Christmas stuff.
We’re in the same boat—hoping for rain but not mudslides in the burn areas. We have evacuation warnings for some of the burn areas around here in case there’s a hard rain that causes slides. They’ve closed part of Highway 1 as a precaution, too.46 degrees we were supposed to get rain already supposedly up to 8 feet of snow in the mountain areas doubtful though more danger of mudslides etc in the burned out areas with any steady rain here
Oh dear so so sorry I haven't seen this before. Thanks for your concern you are so sweet. Central Il had no tornados. Southern IL was hit. There were lives lost in the Edwardsville IL Amazon warehouse tornado. The wind is terrible tonite here but severe weather is a state over to the West. We are going to have a severe temp drop with rain late tonite.I heard about the tornadoes on the news this morning especially downstate IL. Stay safe and please check in to let us know if you're okay.
Wind gusts up to 50 mph and temp is currently 36F.
We hit the 6os in mid Dec! Crazy! Dropping about 20° Overnite. The temps got up to 64F today which is unprecedented for this time of year but they're supposed to drop to 40F tonight with wind gusts up to 50 mph.
Love your rain dancer! We were supposed to get a huge atmospheric river storm, starting yesterday around 3 p.m. and dropping anywhere from 4" here on the coast to 10" in the nearby mountains! It hasn't happened so far. We got less than 1/2" of rain overnight. The Powers That Be are still saying we could get from 2-4" today. We could sure use it.
Right now, it's dark, windy and 52º, let's hope we get some of that rain. View attachment 404211 (that's a rain dance in case you didn't know)
