Shadow had no scratches or any other visible mark. They think she just swatted at the raccoon and that was it. The other 3 however did look like they were mangled.
Im sorry..but I THOUGHT u said in ure other post the raccoon attack the cat very badly..n u found her yesterday morning...

I never said Shadow was hurt. I said she was swatting at the raccoon and I needed to take precautions. Shaman as well as Sopdet are the ones that were in pretty bad shape

Ugh I did say that. I meant Cooper was attacked, Shadow just swatted. I have too many cats running here. Sorry about the confusion, even I'm getting confused. Shadow was on my mind because I was fuming that a so called reputable no kill shelter just dumped her back on the streets when I posted the above. Plus, I was sitting here with a very swollen toe from injury with a lot of pain so I wasn't thinking properly.

Anyway there's only 2 cats that are not at the vets and those two are Shadow and Ambrose. The others are at the vets for observation. So far they seem ok but they still have to be there for 14 days total.

Remember: I'm dealing with a post hoarding situation here where there were 80 or more cats running in and out of a 2 room house. I don't know the prior relationships between these cats although it seems none of them liked Shadow. They seemed to have known each other though before they were TNRd back to my property so I'm just going by what the local shelter that TNRd them claim. Although why they don't spay Shadow is beyond me. The least they could have done was spay her when she was at the no kill shelter so they not only just dumped her back on the streets (in the same area that the problems began) but they also just decided I suppose that I should take care of spaying her myself. I thought that no kill shelters keep cats and dogs forever or until they find a home. I suppose I was wrong. And while I'm happy that Shadow has a friend now, it still breaks my heart that she was just dumped again. Just like they were all kicked to the curb when the original human died.

Some of you remember that Shadow was found in deplorable conditions in July after a 2 month absence as Treasure ran her off and I learned that the people who took her in threw her kittens out. All of them died but one that Treasure found and played foster dad to for the day til found a home for the kitten. Recent events lead me to believe that the other kittens were the dinner of the raccoons (sadly). So when I saw Shadow in that condition I had the no kill shelter come and remove her with the assurance they'd keep her forever if they could not re home her. Now here she is back on my property and I've been trying to get answers from this shelter as to WHY? and not getting through. No response to my emails either.

Shadow was in the sewer. Now she's all wet and dirty. Ugh anything beside a rain to clean it off of her? Why on earth would a cat go in the sewer?

Is this even normal? I"m crying over this tragedy. It seems non stop with the tragedies around here. Now these 2 may have to go to vet or they'll wind up dead. I don't know what to do. Nothing is helping or getting rid of these critters, one gaze is put down and another moves in. I do't want dead cats. I should never ever have taken this on. My heart is breaking in two :(

I guess Ambrose will be ok. Shadow took off but Ambrose made a beeline to my chair and crawled under. Here you'll see the raccoon with a possum eating side by side while Ambrose is still under the chair.

Since there seems to be an issue with uploading videos to the media center here I'm including 2 YouTube links. Enjoy both videos. :)

First of all although I do not leave food out at night, I do leave water out for the cats. Anyway there was no wind and there was 1/2 inch nail that was in front of the hole in the top of the broom. In other words any wind would have to wiggle the brook off the nail to do what it did. I'm not saying ghosts (although I am also into the paranormal). But this video gives you a background onto the other link I'll share.

Ok that worked so fast forward now several hours. As most of us who dealt with them know, it's difficult to scare a raccoon. However I viewed this live and couldn't stop laughing as this truly did scare the raccoon. Watch closely.

Well that is really weird! I could understand it falling if there was wind, but you said it wasn't windy. I call ghostly shenanigans!

Either way it set the stage for the funny incident with the raccoon. Big bad raccoon runs away from a broom. Nothing else scares him but that sure did. lol

Maybe I should set up the broom every night before I lock up. Resident possum gently walked around the broom but not the raccoon lol

Aren't cats supposed to not eat when not hungry or is that a lie I was fed when I was young (pardon the pun). But seriously Ambrose just ate good and then ate some junk that the challenged neighbor across the street threw out. I'm afraid one day these cats will get sick or die from something toxic to cats. I can't say anything to the neighbors as they have caused problems with us before. My heart is breaking in two

I'm going to lose ll of them forever unless something is changed with the Mom tragedy, aren't I?

The cats are back home. After thorough checking the scratches and all were inflicted by fighting each other. There is no raccoon marks on them. Unfortunately that also means no more harmony as Cooper is now trying to run Shaman and Treasure off the property. I'm crying as Shaman is the one that came to me first.

With that said, I'm not sure how much longer I can keep going through this. Cat fights, raccoons, cold weather, etc etc. It's truly taking a toll on my health and then dealing with this Mom tragedy on top of it all. I'm not sure where to go from here. I can't be breaking up fights with 6 cats all the time. I don't know. I'm so frustrated and at wits end with the daily fights here.

Mom's ok, the cats are ok and I guess you see from the videos above there's a scared raccoon (until tonight). But the cats need to stop taunting the raccoons, unless they always have done it and I'm just now seeing it because of the cam.

My heart is breaking in two. Shaman will most likely die because Treasure is not letting her near the food bowl. And the Mom tragedy prevents me from feeding any of them inside. I really need to find someone to take over for me as i can't deal with daily heartbreaks. :(

The only way to stop it is to sit outside but it's cold. And I'll be living in the bushes if I get any more sick then I am now as Mom doesn't want to catch anything. I'm crying over this situation. It just gets worse by the second. No resolution to anything :(

Anyway if anyone in the St Louis MO area wants to take over then please let me know. The daily heart aches with this is getting me down and I'm not in the best of health anymore. I can't do this anymore if someone can take over. As much as I love each one this is too heartbreaking. No one in my neighborhood wants to help. I'm crying as this is the hardest decision I have to make but I want them all to stay alive, not die of starvation, raccoons or cold weather. And the Mom tragedy does not help.

Every day I spent 18 to 20 hours doing surveys online because of having to be here with Mom. I don't have a normal life. I can't leave because of her falling and her flat out refusal to go to a doctor. Doctor won't comply and come visit. So I'm stuck with 4 hours of sleep or less each night just so I can get them cat food. And I tried the suggestions given and all the shelters say is "your problem" so there's that. I can't get the cats the healthiest cat food, I have no straw or funds to get straw for a decent shelter (at moment I have blankets wrapped around the cat tree) but then there's also the 5 or 6 Mom alerts daily that I have to dash outside to move their belongs so Mom doesn't see when she INSISTS on looking out the door from basement (you know her house and shower downstairs). Soon there will be ice and snow and the situation here will continue. And Mom will still insist looking out the door from the basement. With Mom's allergies even if she was compliant about me feeding them she has her allergies so unlike normal people I wouldn't be able to bring them inside and separate for feeding. Cats do need to eat and while cats will be cats, I don't like that Shaman and Treasure who used to be best buddies are now bitter enemies. And they all checked out as healthy so there is no diseased or dying ct in this colony. I"m looking at what being chased away from the food bowl has done to Shadow and the horrible circumstance about her at no kill shelter and then just cruelly dumped back here on the streets. Am I supposed to sit outside 24/7 in bitter cold, wind chills and snow just to be sure the cats don't fight? Am I supposed to just sit here and watch them die one by one because of above scenarios? And since Shaman is the one who came to me first when I was suffering a very very low and depressing time due to a horrible tragedy it breaks my heart seeing all of this.

I have asked and pled constantly about some solutions. I have asked on Next Door app for help in setting up a shelter and no one here really helps or cares I suppose. And then I'm obviously stuck with the task of having Shadow spayed because local TNR didn't do it when she was trapped over a year ago with the others? Not really fair and while I love each of these cats, I see my health rapidly declining trying to "hide" everything from my Mom. I don't know. I'm not making any hasty decisions about this but I do know these cats survival trumps all else, whether here or somewhere else.

If shadow was in a rescue for a time they would not release her without spaying her.

You can cheaply make shelters out of boxes and straw and some styrofoam sheets (optional but better)
just wrap the boxes with trash bags to keep out water and make sure they are off the ground a bit.
I will give you directions on how to do this if you want to shelter them

And yet they did release her. I saw to it she was taken back in July and she is back now no tipped ear and it's law in my city to tip ears if fixed. She was not spayed when trapped a year and a half ago. Female cats that have been supposedly spayed 18 months prior do not have a litter of kittens yet Shadow had those kittens that sadly all but one served as meal to these raccoons. I really have no money for any of this stuff though to even make which sadly is the purpose of my last post And it still does nothing to solve the chasing away from the food bowl unless I'm there situation or the having to work 18 to 20 hours a day to earn money to feed them. They need a better life than what I can provide them because being realistic, even if I fed them all my health will get to the point I won't be able to care for them anyway. Then what will they do? No one in my area is feeding them at present. And no one wants to as long as I'm feeding. So we have that situation. :(

Now Treasure is missing. This is like a daily thing. Shaman and the others come, whining and looking for him, we set out for 4 or 5 hours looking and can't see him. My gut right now is not in a good place and I fear something happened to him. Which takes me back to last week's post about how I failed him and the others because most normal people would have been able to bring inside by now. If he got kidnapped and/or hit by a car then I will really be sad. :(

Shaman is outside crying. Sopdet is outside crying. I'm inside crying. We just don't know what happened to him. Even Cooper seems sad. Do cats "sense" when another cat is hurt somewhere or dying/dead? Sorry to be so glum about this but I"m just not getting any answers and then people wonder why I feel like I can't do this anymore. :(
