Thanks, Maria. The vets ruled out hypertension as a cause of his blindness. He was diagnosed with retrobulbar optic neuritis.There may be something here re his sudden loss of vision. Could it be hypertension?

He has been an indoor cat for the last 6 years so very unlikely it's a tick. It also wouldn't explain his lumbar pain. But thanks for bringing it up!did the vet check for a tick ? ticks do cause paralisis and their toxins affect the neurological systems and nerves in the body. The tick could be in a place where it is hard to see such as in the ears
