It's not holy days or holidays for me, but I've been enjoying the pix and posts, especially of the Easter Snowshoe! *and yes, 1CatOverTheLine 1CatOverTheLine , Seesh had that effect on everyone, and as I've said, she was especially fond of men. I don't think she ever met a man she didn't love.*

Well, I'm utterly exhausted because I've been playing since the moment I woke up, and when I say playing, I mean decorating. I'm forever decorating, if in doubt, decorate. Distract, distract, distract. Along with many wee tinkers here and there, such as supergluing a magnet to my copper angel I made in jewellery class so that it can hang off my cube-thingamabobs, attaching leaf paintings to 8 said cube-thingamabos for a change of scene, painting one side of a paper mache bat cosmic blue (the 2nd will be done any minute), I've just tarted up my chest of drawers with interesting, textured paper. How long it will last is neither here nor there, it occupied my mind and looks ok, for now. My cats are happy as I've sat down for ten minutes and they're both snuggling. I feel awful that I'm about to boot them off but that bat won't paint itself.

As in all photos of innocuous items, evidence of cats is in view with two tell tale tails.

Happy Easter! I had a good day - church with my parents and brother and then later my bf and my sister and her bf came for the meal. Ham, broccoli with cheese, potatoes, king's Hawaiian rolls and jello. With some Trivial Pursuit (somehow I won) and lamb cake after. It was a nice day.

Lelia had chicken and herring wet food and doesn't understand the Easter thing. But that's okay. She's cute.

I had the opportunity to re-watch a movie today and I was delighted. The movie was The Doctor Takes A Wife, a comedy with a very favorite actress of mine, Loretta Young and also Ray Millard. I loved the movie and wanted to watch it again because the pace was superb. The movie just kept putting forth one clever, funny line after another. It started right from the beginning and kept up through the movie. I watched it on youtube on my laptop, I love my laptop for having a nice screen. I had such good laughs and that is good anytime.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful day!:daisy: :bunny:

This time of year, especially this day in particular, always makes me think of new life - I thought this Hellebore peeking out of the snow was a good example.
DSC_4999.jpg

There are other kinds of new life, too, like the one this beautiful boy was given after my daughter pulled him from a shelter. He's an old guy who was trapped in a TNR operation but not returned to the outdoors when it was discovered that he had been declawed and was suffering from severe malnutrition. (I'm sure the first had something to do with the second).

Grandpa (that's his name) turns out to be a snuggly boy who was starved for affection as well as food so he's pretty happy now!

The absolute most PAWSitive kind of "tail" of all -- rescue of senior cat stories! What a treasure Grandpa is. May he live long and loved, and PAWS-PURR :gingercat2:

I do not adopt kittens. I like BIG cats and older ones. Ok, so I got Cappuccino when she was only about 7 months but that was 17 years ago and Panthera was 2 when I got him. But most of the cats I have had or have now were at least 5 years old when they made their home with me. Some were palmed off on me with an alleged age of 5 and then turned out to be much older. I got Oliver, a beautiful seal point Himalayan, from a rescue place when he was allegedly 5 years old, he had been given up by his owner who knew his correct age but when I took him to the vet I was informed that he was at least 15 years old. I never donated to that shelter again although they kept hounding me for donations, but kept Oliver who was a real love and very well behaved, passing in his sleep after getting his morning drink of water about 4 years later. Bebe came to me when she was 11 and Chamouti was already 12. I figure that a senior lady should adopt a senior cat and the Irvine City no-kill shelter will waive the adoption fee, PetSmart lowered the adoption fee for Chamouti for the same reason.
Of course most places now consider a cat over 8 to be "senior" but I would prefer a cat older than that. They are in need of so much love after having been uprooted from wherever, Chamouti is the most loving cat I have ever had. If he is asleep on the sofa and I sit down at the other end it will take about 3 minutes for him to get up, put his head and paws on my leg, snuggle up closely and go back to sleep, all the while purring. He always has to be with me wherever I sit down and it does not matter which room, including the bathroom at night when I don't turn on the light and leave the door open, he will immediately jump in my lap, then follow me back into the bedroom and sleep on my bed cuddled up next to me or above my head if that spot is not already taken. Sometimes he will even sit next to my chair when I'm at the computer as I have a PC on my desk and he does not climb on the desk, but he does not like the cold plastic that is under the chair so usually goes back to the sofa.
Hurray for older cats, especially really big and fluffy ones.
Here he is curled up and also stretched out as long as he gets.

segelkatt segelkatt Me, too, abolutely!!! Our newest furmily member is Elvis, adopted at 9. Before that was Sammi, adopted at 14 and with us until he was 21, when he passed. I've always just adopted a cat when a cat comes to me in need, and age, gender, coloring, etc., is no bar -- a cat is to be loved, respected, protected and cared for, period, end of story. Usually my cats have come from "the streets" but sometimes, as with Elvis and Sammi, they have been adopted from people who, for whatever reason, could no longer care for them in their homes, or, as with Tarifa, adopted from a friend who did rescue/adoption. The family tradition is to adopt from "the streets" and I was born into the environment that my "big brofur" who was 3 at the time, already occupied. I've never met a cat I didn't love!

Awww! Grandpa is such a sweetheart! Please tell your daughter thank you for giving him a loving home margd margd I love stories like these.

Chamouti is impressive segelkatt segelkatt What a gorgeous boy.

My positive for the day is that someone gave us a load of recycled timber. We've got enough to build the cats another outdoor climbing tree, so we're starting work on that soon. I love those kind of projects. Any excuse to be working outside is fine by me.

Was a lovely ride into work this morning at 5:30. I like it dark. I prefer nighttime. The sky looked clear despite the forecast of rain later today. The spring weather has been melting the snow in my yard-there are a few shoots of flowers poking through-the Hosta are already coming up. I will have to wait until tomorrow after work to have time to clear the beds of last year's growth. Unless it's raining! The moles did some damage to my lawn-but this gives Honeybee something to catch! And she will! Those voles/moles make it difficult to keep a perfect lawn BUT the positive is that they eat grubs=so I don't mind the snake trails on my grass-one just walks over them to push them down and rake out the dirt...less grubs means less beetles so that's a plus! :butterfly: :purplebutterfly: :butterfly: :purplebutterfly: :butterfly: :purplebutterfly: :daisy: :daisy: :daisy: :daisy: :daisy: :daisy: :daisy: :tree: :tree: :tree::tree::tree::tree::tree:

On this day three years ago, Milly was born.
:bday: :celebrate: :bunnydance:

She has brought so much joy into our lives!

The last three days, she's been celebrating her birthday, but I think next year, I'll just buy her a bunch of tissue paper to roll around in. She seems more attracted to crinkly paper than with toys, although this catnip one received lots of love bites:

Please, everyone have a great day and I find it very worthwhile to read your posts here! They really help brighten my day.

My glasses are not broken or scratched! I think I've readjusted the nose pads properly too. And my face isn't bruised. I may have walked into the door frame coming out of my bathroom in the dark last night after DH was already in bed. It left paint on my glasses!! But thankfully it washed off. I don't think the bump over my eyebrow is noticeable. :p My nose looks fine. :flail:

MoochNNoodles MoochNNoodles Wanted to add=hope you are ok! I hate it when I walk into walls or bump my head on the bathroom vanity corner-OUCH! And can't tell you how many times whacked myself in the face with glasses on-pushing them into my face making my eyes water!! Ice is a good pain reducer after those mishaps in my experience....HUGS!

The weather was fabulous for my lunchtime ride=winds from the South propelled me away from my starting point at an average 22-25mph which was invigorating! The wind on my face and fresh air just does something to my soul...no clue what it is..makes me happy.:dance::dance: I got to the fire station 3 minutes quicker than usual but on way back needed that extra time!

PushPurrCatPaws PushPurrCatPaws - Happy third birthday to the lovely Milly! Here's hoping that BirthdayCat brought her everything her Heart desired.

Despite the slightly cooler temperatures, Spring seems to be here to stay; birds are returning quickly now, and daffodils are quite nearly in bloom along the path through the woods.

Since we have a high wind warning in effect here (but no winds yet), I kept away from the woods today for the most part, and scraped up a "hump" in the re-seeded section of the lawn today - and got the bucket of the tractor washed off just before the first raindrops began to fall. "Timing is everything!"

Norachan Norachan - Yep, I'll agree: "any excuse to be working outside is fine by me."

PushPurrCatPaws PushPurrCatPaws - Happy Birthday to Milly.

margd margd - The first photo of Grandpa brought tears to my eyes and the second photo put a smile on my face. God Bless your daughter for rescuing such a beeeautiful ginger boy.

Norachan Norachan - "build the cats another" - That's what I have been up to the last couple of days.

I went with a natural colored stain and won't be putting carpet on it. I will post a photo when I get it assembled.
