I have a curious question for all of you in the storms path. Did you stock up on water? If it gets as cold as they predict, the water lines may freeze. For those of you with a well, if the power goes out..........

It's 15F here right now after a number of mornings of being around 0. I looked at the forecast and we are supposed to be back to the extreme cold the next 3 nights. Starting Sunday we are supposed to be back to more normal temperatures. It is supposed to snow on Monday but we aren't supposed to go back to the extreme cold after that.

:cold: :cold: :cold:

We are not cut out for this in the sunshine state of weather wimps :headshake: . I put an extra blanket on the bed. Lilith came in and slept with me. She likes all the soft blankets. She makes a little nest out of them. Last night it was 65 in the house. I turned the heat on to keep it at 70. :cold:

DD griped. Too bad. :eviltongue:

It was 13 F when I came into work this morning. We are to get some snow this morning, but nothing major....perhaps a coating to an inch or so. The big thing here is the wind with the cold now. And it's to get worse cold-wise after the storm goes through on its way up the coast. We're hoping the electricity stays on.

I hope it stays on too. Power outages are the worst. I think they are worse when it's cold than when it's hot. Stay warm everyone! :hugs:

Since I was an adult, living through the Original, Blizzard of '78; I always have a stock of spring water, camp lantern, flashlights, extra blankets, paper products, and some non perishable food...

When there is a bad snow storm, I usually order a pizza the night before, or get some cold cuts for sandwiches.. and of course, a loaf of bread...

I always make sure my electronics are fully charged, car gas tank full, window washer full, snow brush in car, shovel in car..

The snow has picked up a bit now. It was supposed to have started early this morning but at 4am there was nothing and at 6:30 there still wasn't anything, at least not where I live. I finally got out of bed a little after 8am and the snow was coming down but it was very light.

my town also has 7" of snow so far. Blizzard conditions with the occasional thunder. It's predicted to continue like this for the next 13 hours.

Doubt I'll be going into work either tomorrow

It got really bad close to 11am and it hasn't let up since. It's near whiteout conditions at times. There are still idiots driving around in the storm :nono: I think we have close to 2 inches so far.

I've been watching cars (big cars like SUVs to little Mini Coopers) coming and going from the apartment complex next door all morning:dunno: Nothing is open in the area so I have no idea why anyone needs to go anywhere unless they are essential personnel for the job they do. I'm surprised no one has gotten stuck trying to leave or enter the complex yet. The snow removal crew it out with their big gun machines but it's hard to keep up with a huge property.

I remember some years back when we had a horrible storm and it dropped 4' of snow. The snowplow could only get the main road. The lady at the title company brought her Percherons in, hooked up a plow and did the parking lots and one back street. Just shows, modern vehicles are still no comparison for a good horse in some circumstances.

All of you in the storms path, please stay safe.

My mini highway is closed down due to flooding from the river on the other side of the street.
The River overflowed, flooding streets and houses.. Evacuations were made of basement apartments, yes, they even took survival suits to them.. Beach flooding also.. so I am pretty much water locked.. cannot move, even if I wanted to...stuck in here.

The MBTA discontinued service in my City due to flooding of the tracks.. OMG.. If I was working, I would have no way to get home. I would have been stuck in work for 2 days...OMG..
This is really bad.
I took a quick look to see how it was outside. The highway is semi-plowed with the snow over the guard rails. The visitors parking area in my building, does not appear to be plowed out.. there are many drifts in the tenants parking area. --- not enough to plow, but snowblower needed.. My superintendent tore his rotator cuff so he is out of commission.. They hired some kind of service to plow, but I do not believe they arrived..

There are 16 inches of snow in the city next to me.. wind gusts at 44 mph... This is so bad.. I am trying to conserve power, because who knows if we will continue to have power..

There have been people evacuated from stuck or flooded cars all over the place.

It is nice and toasty warm in here. I put the temp up one degree earlier today, and when the winds picked up, I increased it one more degree.

I have to go out, probably around 6pm to clean off my car. The temp will drop significantly, and this stuff will freeze ... This is nuts...

14" of snow dumped here. I spent an hour shoveling my car out (I don't have a driveway, my car is in a parking lot in my condo). my back tire is deeply buried and I can't get it out. I hope I don't have to go to work tomorrow, lol.
