got a tad bit further today-the helmet makes me SO HOT :( I know it's the right thing but man it makes me sweat like crazy. Glad I changed into sweat proof shirt-didn't feel as stifling. I think I got 2.3 or 2.4 miles one way. I got up the mini steep hill but in 1st gear..then turned around and blasted down the hill-got up to 27 mph! Going back that way was much easier since I already got my speed up...I think it's going to be an early night for me. I am zonked. Didn't get much sleep last night and today feel winded. But felt good to get wind underneath me going down hills.

30 minutes of riding.

On bridge by Portsmouth. Windy up there. Pic was taken last week.

The stretch jeans worked perfectly. No rubbing or chaffing. Gonna get some more in a size down. These are a shade too loose. Gonna try 18 instead. 20 fits but too loose at waist.

Got new socks to try as well.

I got up 5 am, been running around doing chores and exercising ever since, it is now 10pm and I'm still baking bread, I don't feel too tired.

So much to do, not sure if I ride bike tomorrow or if I try walking, might be also good idea to keep recovery day. Eye sight inspection tomorrow, I hope to get new glasses so that I could actually see something.

Update, I bought actually some cycling clothes, my problem is that most of such clothes are too tight between knee and ankle, waist is way too big most of the time, so I use rubber things that hold pants up, don't know name, might not be most stylish, but nobody sees those under the jacket.

Gore-tex suit for really wet and just wind blocking for not so wet weather, I got also rain pants, but those I can't use as part between knee and ankle is way too thick, so need to sell those pants.

Also got new Gore-tex shoes, so that my feet would not be soaked every time I ride on a puddle, total cost was bit over 700, I hope those last more than 1 year...

Just went onto website to buy more jeans and price online is $5 more than in the store! Looks like I am swinging by wally worlds when I get out of here..I don't normally like Faded Glory jeans but this fabric is thicker and stretchy. Not bad at all for riding. I just don't like skin tight yoga pants-it feels odd with my calves skin tight jeans. Normally I wear linen loose pants-not used to skin tight. I don't like jeggings either=they don't make the legs WIDE enough for muscled legs. Fun buying riding clothes..but then I love clothes anyways!!

Wind blocking is nice when it's colder, there are special outdoor clothes that are really thin, but block wind well, those are not tight fitting type as idea is to add more layers underneath as weather gets colder.

Nobody knows if you wear men's clothes underneath, when you get to longer distances, you probably need something spandex and they do make them large too:

nope no way will you see my fat butt in those...hahahaha...thanks but no thanks...

but I did look at them-that's interesting that it has padding in it-ok I will try them but I wish they made these in long pants...on to look some more LOL. They don't give these away I see. Guess I have to get over my hangups on image-because no one wants to see a fat woman in spandex HAHAHA.

Ok wow I got overwhelmed on Amazon. I am trying a couple pairs but they run small and most likely not be able to get my leg through the opening..measured myself-doesn't look like 80% of the items offered will fit me. :mad2::mad2::mad2: looks like they don't make anything for 50 inch hips..dumb!!!

foxxycat foxxycat I envy you your bike; I've wanted a nice bike for a while now, but Rick says I can't ride without a helmet, elbow pads, knee pads and good gloves. Why? Because I'm a dopic mess and if anybody's going to fall off a bike and kill herself, it will be me. I have to admit, the man has a point; when I was a kid, I was covered with iodine and mercurochrome from head to foot because I was constantly pulling dumb stunts on my bike. But I keep telling him I'm 62, I'm not going to do anything stupid.....he doesn't believe me. :rolleyes2:

Thursday -
2.5 miles on the treadmill
12/12 hours with 300+ steps
13,734 steps for the day - 6.5 miles

You can always get training wheels...don't laugh...just get on one and ride! Besides if you live near a road that's wide shouldered and flat-I only spilled 2 times..one I never told mom-I wiped out crossing a major road because of sand and I turned too fast-my fault. The other time was in the woods I was stupid and over compensated for turning and got my leg ripped from a shrub...haha. I just never told mom if I wiped out...then again it wasn't unusual for me to be 20 miles away from home at 12 and 13...I was born riding-I remember being 3 or 4 and had one of those 3 wheeler plastic bikes with the big tire in front and I rode up and down the side street at 6am-guess the neighbors didn't like that-back when we had plastic hard shell tires...I didn't get a real bike until I was 8 or 9. rode 5 miles to the clam shack down the road at 10 years old to get a hotdog plate LOLOL

can you tell I am food motivated??Like a cat!!! LOL. I used to walk with Jon but it had to be to the Chinese food place down the road-I would get a small order of spare ribs and eat them walking back. LOL. Can't help it-I LOVE food..I live to eat...uggg...which is why I am exercising-to control myself.

Oh no, you don't wear those on top, those are underwear kind of thing, then on top you can put whatever you like, that has no seams or such, I don't know what is wind pants in proper English, but thin wind blocking pants that should work really well when it gets colder.

Surely fit people can wear those without anything else, but even I'm not that fit :D

Winchester Winchester , maybe you could find used cargo bike for cheap, three wheels and is much more accepted than adding extra wheels to regular bike?

oh I know you don't wear them on top silly!! I am still looking...you got me thinking..wish they made a plus size womans exercise clothes but the only stuff I find are extremely high priced.

Looks I will have to make my own cycling pants..they just don't make pants wide legged enough for me...damn.

I looked at a new 3-wheeler at a local bike shop....it was expensive and they didn't have any used ones. I'll have to start looking around. I could always get a two-wheeler with training wheels

It is always raining here, but it is not a problem, bit slippery so can't make fast tight corners and can't really see much as glasses are wet and fogged, maybe it motivates some of you

That looks like a lot of fun jtbo jtbo Your trails look like the trails around here. We're at about the same stage of autumn as you are too.

Winchester Winchester I think it would be just as easy to crash a 3-wheeler as a 2-wheeler. Maybe the helmet and pads would be a better investment?

;)

foxxycat foxxycat It's crazy that plus sized work out clothes aren't easier to find. All this pressure they put on people to eat properly and exercise more, then they make it so difficult to find the right clothes.

We need someone who is good at sewing on this thread. Then you could come up with your own designs for clothes and fill that gap in the market.

I've just done 90 minutes of yoga, concentrating on balance and core strengthen postures.

I need a bit of a break now, but I'll go out for a walk later.

Norachan Norachan , yes, knowing me, if it's possible to crash, I'd probably figure it out. Says Dear Richard anyway.

Friday -
2 miles on the treadmill
12/12 hours with 300+ steps per hour
12,789 steps for the day - 6.06 miles

Saturday - Taking today off from the treadmill

We just don't have such big altitude differences, but I think you guys would like to hike here.

Lot of rocks though and everything is rather wet, so also very slippery, each and every rock or root can cause felling, might need better tires I guess. This was from yesterday's ride, I believe.
kivikkoa_hapokasta.jpg

I decided to take route to left, camera is not showing how steep it did look, 26% climb at steepest part, bike tries to make wheelie or grip issues, balancing between the two:

So at bottom of hills there is swamp and you ride on these kind of paths at wet places:
upload_2017-10-7_19-48-12.png

This was over 10% climb, which was really difficult for me, all those rocks are like soap, you hit them at wrong angle and you will fell down, but they do grab pedals quite well :D

Today 2 hours and 1906 calories, that is around 950 calories per hour, you can perhaps imagine how hard one must push to reach that, Polar says it was Tempo+ training. It is completely different thing of riding path, so many more muscles has to be working hard. Only 17km of distance.

jtbo jtbo your video isn't working.

Yes we need to design better bike/exercise clothes for the well endowed folks. Some of us have genetic things going on..I remember my mom at age 40 ballooned in size..I was trying to stop the very same thing from happening-but hey if I never get thin at least I can still kick some serious butt.

Today changed into calf high spandex pants I got at wally world and a long athletic tank top...it is nicer not having jeans rubbing..just feel self conscious.

30 min of riding-got a slow start by 3 minutes so only made it to the school. And it's wet as heck with humidity..my face is red as a tomato. Got to get some pictures..I was going to today but I was running behind schedule. Maybe tomorrow.

about 4.5 miles total. The wind was really bad.. ride out it was against my back and I zoomed along but ride back OMG but I still made it up the big hill in gear 3 now. I made some more adjustments to the derailer in back and only had one skipped chain spot. So maybe I fixed it.

If I saw a slippery wooden path over a swamp like that I would just jump straight in the water.

I know I'm going to fall in there. No point trying to delay the inevitable. Just save time and jump right in.
