Just here for a moment because a few of you worry when I don't show up on the forums pretty much daily, since I ALWAYS do (and I appreciate that more than you can ever know!).  Today I'm putting the second bookcase together, then Suzanne is coming over to "spot" for me while I climb up the kitchen chair to install the safety straps, and THEN I shall begin loading books!  SOMEONE asked if they had wooden or paper backs.  Paper.  My budget doesn't run to solid wood anything.  I'm a pressboard and cardboard kinda gal, although not by choice!  Anyway, I"m off to the races.  Depending on what time I get done, I may be back on later, but not to fret if I am not.

Doing a quick check of the unanswered posts, then I'm gone!

Well...I have bookcases, and books on them!  I am short one bookcase, maybe one and a half, having enough for the current books.  SO...four more will have me in good shape!  I'm going to go curl up somewhere VERY quiet for a few hours!

Double dipping here...I'm on my way to bed.  I managed a nap, a bowl of soup and a bath, but the batteries on the camera are charged now, so I hadda make one more post!

As you can see, I need one more immediately, and three more after that for the future.  Two shelves have books in double rows, and I'd like to avoid that.  And yes, that double stack on the floor is a bit over two feet tall!!!

Okay, last night I had to train my relief (I finally have one!!!!), and she's a nice girl, a hard worker, and I only have one complaint--and it's not exactly about her. It's her voice. It's just at a frequency that grates on my ears and gives me a headache. (It's killing me now.) I was very, very  careful to not let her know that--it's not like it's something she can help, after all, and I remember how hurt I was when I had a customer complain about my  voice doing the same thing to him. So, I was careful. And I trained her on everything--except the peanut pots, because she has a deathly allergy to peanuts. And--now I can stop. (She didn't think one day was enough training on our shift--there's a lot to do--and I agree with her, so I promised to go up and check on her when she's working alone on Tuesday. Seemed the least I could do, and it's not like I have to stay the whole night with her again. Yet.

Love the kitty pics! you have some beautiful babies! The first picture looks so much like Honeybee with the white belly and white mittens that I had to do a double take. Plus the floofy Tail as well.

Well I finally heard back from the Rental. Looks like Tripadvisor didn't go for my request of a refund of the deposit. They must have gotten through to them because I got the file emailed to me this morning. All I have to do is fill it out and email it back to the Rental. It says I have to pay $125 per pet but I think they already got that money in the estimate-either way I will not stress about it. I hope the rest of the experience goes better. At least I won't have to worry about them making unexpected visits or calling me about stuff. I like owners who actually just leave the tenant alone unless they suspect something going on. The nice part is having 2 separate buildings. I wonder if we would be more comfortable in the bunk house. It's not as fancy as the main cabin but it's cozy. I am strange. I prefer smaller rooms  even though I got a home with open concept. I think I like smaller crevices that older homes have.

Nothing new going on. Hopefully this week will be uneventful.

It's such a lovely day here!  I decided to step away from the computer to open my windows, and while I was gone, Ms. Hekitty decided that the keyboard would be a comfy spot for sitting.  Somehow, SHE TOOK A SCREENSHOT!  Now, I have no clue how to do this myself (although I want to know), and she isn't talking!  I really hate it when my cat knows more about my computer than I do!

edited to add:  I just looked in the "unanswered" section.  A couple of folks are trying to sex kittens, but the pictures weren't clear enough for me.  Some of you give them a try!  HEY...IT'S KITTEN FANNY SEASON AGAIN!

edited AGAIN to add: HA!  That was easy!  I just have to press the PrtSc (F12) and it saves to its own file for screenshots!  Who knew (besides EVERYBODY BUT ME!)?

Somewhere I must have missed something about Mamanyt1953 and the books. Will you explain please why you have so many books, what kind are they, (yes, I gather they are paperbacks), I mean are they a particular genre? Do you have a lending library as you seems to have a turnover of books? I have a lot of books too,  I got rid of about 1,000 within the last 3 years, 99% were hardbacks including art books, the big oversized ones, novels, classics. One time I went to the library and put about 10 paper grocery bags full of books into their night deposit, I didn't know what else to do with them. I have three large wooden bookcases full and 4 cheapy ones (pressed wood and cardboard) in the living room, plus one each cheapy ones in each bedroom, all full. I am just happy being surrounded by all my books and I read them frequently, including those that I have read before. I only get rid of those that I know I won't read again. I've been like that since I was a child. The greatest gift my parents ever gave me was a book that had 1400 pages, I recently replaced it with a new one as the old one was finally falling apart after having it for 60 years and  don't know how many times I've read it! Yes, I did find it on the Internet and it was in excellent condition and not expensive at all.

Um, so I got my EKG results.  The good news is that I don't have prolonged QT interval.  The bad news is that there might be structural damage to my heart.  I've got to Google all the stuff, but this is the stuff it's saying:

Sinus rhythm

Probable left atrial enlargement

Left ventricular hypertrophy

Inferior infarct, old

Anterior Q waves, possibly due to LVH

Eep!  I think after talking to the psychiatrist, I'm going to be making an appointment with my regular doctor.  Wonder if all this is why my blood pressure has been slightly high lately?

Well at least you can stay on your medicine while you deal with this other stuff.  Did the cardiologist who read the test talk with you about what, if anything, you may need to do next?

The cardiologist that confirmed the results didn't leave any instructions.

Google says the most likely is that the entire left side of my heart is enlarged and I had a heart attack a while ago. My last EKG was 2014 and that was completely normal. The heart attack can be a false positive, the enlargement can be exercise induced. Crossing my fingers that it's all false positives.

On the plus side I've now lost 40 lbs since December. 12 more pounds and I'm going to celebrate somehow. The problem is that I don't know how to celebrate without involving food (going out to a restaurant, movie with popcorn and soda). Which is probably why I'm so fat to begin with.

You could get a TON more books on the top 2 shelves (where there is a lot of empty space at the top of each shelf) by stacking more books horizontally on top of the books that are already there. To some extent you could also do that on the lower 3 shelves.

I would think that stacking like that will make it too hard to pull out a book to read.

I always shelve my books like that. I like my bookcases to be completely full. The books in the photos are softcover & lighter in weight. Mine are all hardcover & I've never had a problem removing one.

I have so many books because I read voraciously, constantly and eclectically, AND I love to re-read old favorites.  For every book I currently have, I have donated two that I enjoyed, but not enough to collect and re-read.  A dear, dear friend DOES have a used bookshop, and occasionally just sends me a box of books she knows I will enjoy.  I also order from Thriftbooks on a regular basis, since they carry such a good selection of used books, and buy new when I can (got to support the authors whenever possible!).  I treasure my books.  They pretty much cross all genres, I'm not particular, but I don't much enjoy westerns of any sort.   I'm obsessively organized with them, and shelve them by author and series, with each book in a series numbered with neat little lable on the spine as to which number in the series it is.  They also receive a bookplate.  I don't have a lending library, although I do lend books out to people I can trust to care for them and return them within a decent time...And I WILL CHASE MY BOOKS DOWN!  They are my friends.  I, too, have a book that I have replaced at LEAST 4 times over the last  45 years.  I've just read it to death.

I was thinking like @arouetta, but I'll give it a try, if I can do so while keeping it organized!

And congratulations on your weight loss!  Don't forget...it is fair to celebrate with food, you just can't find excuses to celebrate EVERY DAY!  That's the trick!

Maybe so. Or, maybe it's been stress. In that case, it should be calming down now.

Nothing wrong with treating yourself every now and then. Maybe a nice bubble bath instead?

Yeah, I've shelved that way. Depending on what your bookcase is made of, that's a good way to warp the wood.

I get where you're coming from. I have the same thing, minus the friend with a used book store.

Speaking of books, my box finally came in!! My "something cozy" was a small thing of organic beeswax lip balm, and my surprise was a second book. The first book is Love Bites, by Angela Knight. The second one is Darkest Fire  by Tawny Taylor. I've never heard of either of these authors, but I look forward to reading them!

Beeswax lip balm is amazing.  A couple of decades ago I was using Chapstix and ended up with hives all over my lips.  I stopped using chapstick altogether until the hives went away and switched to Blistex and that lasted less than a month.  I have no idea what in those I was allergic to, but Burt's Bees had none of the same ingredients and I've been using it since.  I found another one that had all the "good" credentials (organic, free trade, plastic tubing was solely from recycled plastic) and it was also good but it had too much canola oil for my tastes.

The first book sounds like a vampire novel.  What's it about?

Angela Knight is a good author. I have read some of hers.  Tawny Taylor I am not familiar with. Years ago there was a time when all I read were paranormals. Back before they became so popular. Linda  miller put out 4 books that go together-those were the best paranormals I have read but I admit I haven't read any new ones in the last 12-15 years...someday I would like to get back to reading like I did as a teen.

And I triple stack my books. I should get rid of them but I just love my room of books. I have them separated by type and style but not by author yet...
