There's a wall in the vet hosptial lobby that has this sculpture where one can place a memorial for their deceased pet and even to honor Human family members.

Since those pictures were taken the tree has "grown" more leaves
My previous cat has a leaf on the wall. My cat had spent a week in the CCU really really sick and the hospital had nearly every vet and intern and resident and vet techs / assistants working on him but he sadly did not make it
The vet and his then-resident bought a leaf plaque for me because they knew how much I was involved in my cat's care while he was in the CCU and even before he got sick and that my cat was really special and loved. It was so nice of them to buy a plaque and it was completely unexpected and surprising. They don't buy memroail plaques very often for clients.

what a lovely idea ^^^^  I am reading about Whole30 food diet-trying to see if this is something I can do without too much fuss. I have been already upping the proteins and need to up the veggies. not sure about the carbs. Something I want to read about. Did ok for breakfast-plain oatmeal and banana then 2 boiled eggs. but hungry at 9am. broke down and ate a pastry. I am full for now-we will see how long it lasts. Havent eaten a pastry in 2 weeks so I am not feeling too bad about it. Last night I baked plain haddock with crackers and butter. The fish was not as good as fresh. It was frozen vacuum packed in a bag-was only $10 but nope next time I will buy the fresh stuff instead. I didn't have ritz crackers either=had triscuit and tried those-it was ok. ritz are way better but not sure what to use when I go carb free. Been wanting to try the carb free diet for a few months.

@Tallyollyopia-gonna read your story now-will let you know-I thought the beginning was well written by the way-keep up the good work-we need more authors and artists to mix it up. Keep going!

Going to dinner to see my dad this afternoon and it will be interesting to see what I will eat-never used to think about what I ate-just grabbed whatever is handy-so weird now where I have to plan my strategy and buying healthy options-I ditched the TV dinners with the high sodium. But my legs still swell up at the end of the day-so hard to find low sodium-I need to stop being lazy and actually cook. At least last night I tried to bake something. I won't have more opportunity for baking once the weather gets super hot=when its 90s I don't run the oven and I HATE pan fried steak. And I guess I will use the grill but so bloody hot out there! Food!! Why is it such a pain in the ?!!!

foxxycat foxxycat , still hot where you're at? It got over 90 here yesterday but thankfully, there was a cool front that came in overnight.

Thinking about taking mom out today. Last Sunday was a really nice day too, and mom had said she wished she could have gone out. Today is absolutely gorgeous, so think that we'll go somewhere. No idea where, just somewhere.

I am so glad it is no longer in the 90's here in the Chicago suburbs.  I went out last night for karaoke with some friends and the air conditioning in the bar was messed up.  Since I am off work today and do not have to be anywhere till later this afternoon I had some drinks last night.  Normally Mike's Hard Cranberry Lemonade is really easy on my body but for some reason this morning I woke up with a lovely headache.  I have a feeling it is due to drinking in a warm bar last night.  I did try to keep hydrated by also drinking water too. I had a lot of fun but this headache needs to go away. I took some Advil and drank a large glass of water.  I am going to try to go back to sleep soon.

I think one of my cats Sonny is trying to order me back to bed.  He ran into the den and meowed at me and then walked back to the bedroom.  I think he wants me to go back to bed so he can have his time to groom me.  He loves to give me facials. He has food and clean water so he is not trying to wake me up to bed fed.  Well time to go back to bed Sonny is talking to me again and I don't want him to wake up my hubby.

@Donutte- nope its been cool. Yesterday was rainy afternoon in the 60s. last night 51. Today same temp but sunny and breezy. looks like the hot air is not making it to the Northeast. The news this morning showed almost the entire USA with 90+ temps except for our area and the west upper coast. Usually we get the same weather as new York- thankful for cooler air-we have had a wacky spring-hot and cold etc. My allergies are skyhigh with the pollen-everywhere you look is that green slime pollen and the rain is washing it away-so now its on the driveways in the edges of puddles. No wonder my head always feels like exploding.

You guys should enjoy the cooler temps if its cool-pretty soon we will complain its too hot..I prefer it 70. The hot air can go elsewhere thank you very much!

SUPER muggy down here this morning, but the wind is picking up and that's starting to break. I'm trying to finish the mulching/spring clean up in my yard this week before the hotter temperatures come.

This is such a lovely idea and executed so beautifully.  I really like the thought of memorializing furry family members this way.

Right now my head and heart are reeling over the latest mass shooting down in Orlando.  I'm almost numb with shock.  Time to gather in a kitty for hugs to remind me of the sweet parts of life.

70 is perfect to me, I wouldn't mind it being 70 all summer long. No one will ever, ever hear me complain about it being too cold in June, July or August for that matter. I hate hot weather and thankfully we haven't had a summer like we did back in 2011. So many days in a row of 100+ back in July, and I think on July 4th of that year, there was a freight train that derailed due to the track becoming warped, right over a street, and then the weight of it piled up like that on the track caused it to collapse onto the street below it.

It has been rainy so far this week, but today the weather is definitely starting to look a lot nicer. Its supposed to be around 70.

I love that memorial tree. It is brilliant.

It's 86 degrees here in Indiana. Its been soooooooo hot all week long (I am NOT a fan of hot weather). I am supposed to go to a fair tonight with my sister, but if it stays this hot, I may not. Hopefully it will cool down around 5 or 6 pm. Hopefully.

Ah, okay.  Now I get it.  I have enjoyed both of your sense's of humor many times so I should have figured that's what was going on.  I enjoyed a good chuckle at the idea of shocked old ladies seeing beneath a Scotsman's kilt.
Of course, some would go back for a second look!
you bet your sweet bippy they would!  Ergo the one in handcuffs, waving the blue ribbon and singing "Scotland the Brave,"  am homage to an old and rather risque joke, not fit to be repeated here.

Wow.  It has been a long time since I've heard the expression "bet your sweet bippy!"    I wonder if those old Rowland and Martin shows are ever on Netflix?

They are on utube. You may have to look under "Laugh-In". We are dating ourselves, those shows were on in the early 70s but I bet they are still funny. Remember Ruth Buzzi and the "dirty old man" on the park bench? And Goldie Hawn's "sock it to me"?

not at all sure about NetFlix, but I'm fairly certain that I saw Laugh In at Oldies.com.  You might find it at Critic's Choice, ccvideo.com, as well, but I haven't actually visited their site, just leafed through a catalogue, drooling heavily.  I like to buy DVDs, simply because the movies that I love tend to be there one day and gone the next, and never when I'm in the mood to watch them.

Dating ourselves?  Not me.  I read about Laugh-In in my Ancient United States History book.
I do remember "Sock it to me" but don't remember the "dirty old man" on the park bench.  Ah, memories....

Ruth Buzzi was an old maid with a hairnet, carrying a big purse, she sat on a park bench, the "dirty old man" wearing a black coat and a hat would sit on the bench and scoot closer and closer to her, making remarks until she became outraged and would hit him with her purse. I guess they did not go into specifics in your ancient history book, it would outrage the 3 ladies who fainted

I remember the dirty old man. Goldie Hawn did Tweety Bird because she looked so much like him. Those were funny shows. Carol Burnett couldn't hold a candle to Rowan and Martin.

@Tallyollyopia, loved your prologue.  It did catch my interest.  Read it through twice, and liked it better the second time.

@LTS3   That wall is beautiful.  How kind of your vets to have it!  I may grab that photo and show it to my vets, if you don't mind.  I think it is a good idea.

@Margd et al, Oh, and Lilllie Tomlin's "Edith Anne!"  I took the time to look up the show (Wiki, but it is a decent article), and here's the link for those wanting to refresh their memories:
