Do you mean Vet's-Best Lauren? Because that's what I'm using, Vet's-Best, not Pets Best:

Sorry to hear stubborn Perla is holding out for Forti-flora still. Vet's-Best is much preferred here over the forti flora. :lol3:

I am so so deeply happy about Mazy cat. So thrilled to start believing that the years on the c/d didn't ruin her permanently.

Thanks for telling me about Laurie, I'll be sending some vibes to her now!

Fighting for ferals in NW NJ!
:wavey: Yep, still without power. But we're running the generator twice a day for a few hours - keeping our chest freezer frozen, and recharging the batteries that run the lights and heater and stuff. :)

:wow: I'm just thrilled at how well the girls are doing!   I love that Mazy loves cornish hen. :lol3:

I haven't read this thread in awhile, and am simply amazed at how far along you and the girls have progressed
.  And I love Laurie's idea of a chest freezer for your coffee table.  I think that may be what you'll need to do if they keep eating the way they are
.  Oh, and by the way, pork is considered "the other white meat", not red meat
, in case you want to reconsider it.

Thank you Carolina!

I want that table!
You mean the kitchen table or Mazy cat's table? :lol3: Mazy's is just a dish pan turned upside down. But I do love my kitchen table.

Yeah, I want the dish pan table....of course I mean the kitchen table!  I have a 1950s GE Combo Fridge, Hotpoint stove with  a deep-well burner
AND a Mobile Maid Dishwasher!  So there!  The dishwasher works,  but leaks because of dry rot, I can still use it for heating (and hiding dirty dishes) though.  I  love my retro kitchen!

I guess my table would fit right in then. But wait, nah you wouldn't want it, because.... I painted over the chrome legs and edging on both the table and the chairs. The table was in an old damp shed for years, and the chrome was all rusted, so I painted over it with white enamel. One of the chairs died, damp got into the plastic. It's actually in my garden now as a tomato plant holder upper. But I do LOVE it! :)

Mazy ate gizzards tonight, the size of double thick nickels!!!! Even though they were larger than anything she's ever had before, and gizzards even, which I know are more difficult to eat, and not her favorite, she was so DETERMINED to eat her meal that, when she encountered a gizzard that needed really a lot of work, she took it out of her dish and off the table to the floor so as to have more room.

Queen Eva and Jennie, who had already finished theirs, swarmed at her (hoping she'd drop it no doubt :lol3:) but she showed them her BACK and kept chewing. Once she got it all down, she jumped back up to her dish and kept going!

I didn't get it on camera because I had company, stuff had been moved around, and I didn't want to stop watching to look for the camera. I wish I had gotten it on video though, you would have LOVED to see her go at that chunk.

I am so proud of my Mazy cat!

Mazy ate her first boneless PMR without needing any garnish!!!!!!!!! Her beloved cornish hen!!!! WOW!! She's been eating Rad Cat turkey or chicken without garnish for about 6 weeks, but still needed help with the PMR, until just now with her cornish hen (how she loves it!)

Oh wait, another first..Jennie had some cartilage today as I was cutting up some chicken thigh. The first bit of cartilage I gave her she really worked at, but the second bit she had a much easier time with. I got video of the second bit, the first time I was so fascinated I forgot to grab the camera.

Queen Eva tried to eat some cartilage but gave up.

Did you debone the hen yourself?  How difficult is it?  I have never seen a deboned one.  And did Mazy eat the whole thing?

Yes, I took the Cornish hen apart, cut it up (meat only) into one ounce portions, including all sections in every ounce as much as possible. Mazy cat really loves Cornish hen, so when the other two have their beef, Mazy gets Cornish hen. Wasn't any more difficult than chicken thigh. :)

I am feeding boneless prey model so far, in a combination with commercial raw and canned, also. Mazy cat will eat the Rad Cat raw chicken or RC raw turkey without garnish, but still needs help with home prepared meals, until tonight.

Go Mazy, Go Mazy, Go Mazy!
Interesting on the cartilage - never thought to offer it!
Since I am still too afraid to try bone, I figured I'd start with cartilage. :lol3:

Okay, I think we've reached the status quo here.

Mazy (8+ years old, 10 pounds) eats 4.5 ounces of food a day.
1 oz -Rad Cat raw: chicken or turkey, on alternating days
.55 ounces boneless prey model raw (PMR) (with calcium supplemented). Turkey breast, turkey thigh, chicken breast, chicken thigh, chicken gizzard, or cornish hen. (liver for organ)
2.95 ounces canned

Jennie (6+ years old, 9 pounds 8 ounces) eats 4.25 ounces a day
1.1 ounce boneless PMR (calcium supplemented) Turkey breast, turkey thigh, chicken breast, chicken thigh, chicken gizzard, or beef (liver for organ)
3.15 ounce canned

Queen Eva (2+ years old, 6 pounds 15 ounces) eats 5.5 ounces a day
1 ounce Rad Cat raw: chicken, turkey or lamb
.55 ounce boneless PMR (calcium supplemented) Turkey breast, turkey thigh, chicken breast, chicken thigh, chicken gizzard, or beef (liver for organ)
1.1 ounce Stella &Chewy's freeze dried raw
2.85 ounces canned food

On the days that Jennie and Queen Eva have PMR beef there is a variation. Since Mazy can't tolerate beef, on PMR beef days, Mazy has cornish hen. Because of that, Queen Eva gets a full ounce of beef instead of half an ounce, and skips her Stella&Chewy's that day.

Supplements:
Egg shell calcium (as noted) to replace bone in PMR meals
pinch of taurine
probiotic daily
krill oil every two days
300 mg egg yolk lecithin every 2 days (Mazy) every 4 days (Jennie and Queen Eva)
1 tablespoon pure pumpkin daily (Jennie)

I am thrilled to have this worked out to my (and their) satisfaction!
