On Feb 1 I had to have Zoe put to sleep. She was acting a little mellow for a few days, but I didn't think much of it until one day I noticed she was breathing really fast. I took her to the Vet and they weren't sure what was wrong but because of x-rays they knew she had a fluid build up in her lungs. They treated her with lasics, but recommended I take her to the Animal Hospital because they could not tell if it was because of her heart. The hospital ran some test and found she had hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy. They treated her overnight and kept her the next day and her breathing returned to normal. They gave me some drugs that could help her, or not depending on how advanced the condition was. She was ok for 2 days, but on the 1st her breathing got fast and labored again. I knew it was time to let her go because we had done all we could.
I still expect her to greet me at the door when I get home. She was my outgoing cat, while her brother Miles is the shy crazy cat. She could be a brat, jumping on counters and chewing wires, but she made up for it by being a total sweetheart most of the time. I know she is in a better place now, but I miss her.
