If you are walking Simba outside she should get regular flea treatments. Most are once a month. I use Revolution with Eclipse because it kills more than fleas and who knows what the ferals are leaving behind in the bushes.
Can you really tell by that. The lil grey and black/orange I think are girls. The 2 cream orange I think are boys but there is an orange I think might be a girl I tried checking and didn't see on her what the other 2 orange are. I thought Simba was a boy as did the vet which is why her pregnancy was a shock. Thank you for sharing.Because mum is ginger you can sex those babies by their colour... all gingers will be boys and the 2 dark ones (torties) will be girls
Hi okay I was adding some hard stuff to the soft food since they didn't seem to go for it. All of them have done bowel movements in the litter box today. I wasn't expecting them to learn that fast. These kittens are super smart. It's a kitten small litter box. I purchased two but will add second one tomorrow I don't want to throw them off. Simba is not scratching at all. So she much of passed on fleas to the kittens oh boy. Okay is advantage over the counter. How many tubes do I buy. Simba needs one and then q tip for the babies? Or do I just buy 1 tube and use 5 q tip on the kittens. Please let me know. Ive never given a flea treatment before. It's not prescription it's over the counter and safe for the kittens right since it's small amount. I feel so bad it's fleas. Thank you so much. The weights are great!
Since you are feeding them wet kitten food there is no need to add water or kitten milk to it. They should show more interest in their wet food over the next week or so.
You'll need to put a tube of Advantage on Simba's neck. If they are scratching then they have fleas. It's not mosquitos. You can put a q-tip's worth of Advantage on each kitten's neck as well. You'll have a full-blown flea problem otherwise and they will get tapeworms from the fleas.
You can spay Simba when the kittens are 7 or 8 weeks old, so in about 2 weeks.
It sounds like all is well .
Hi would That would be for Simba not the kittens right? Simba is not scratching but the kittens are. I feel so bad now. Above Sarthur2 said to use advantage q tip on the kittens. Is revolution with eclipse over the counter I never hears of eclipse. I've heard of advantage and revolution. If you are walking Simba outside she should get regular flea treatments. Hi can you tell me which advantage to purchase and how many I need. There's a kitten one but that's for 8 weeks they turn 5 tomorrow. Do I put a full tube on Simba and then from that tube I do 5 quips one for each kitten. Or do I need a second tube for kittens. Because they jump and lick each other will this be okay to put on them and not poison them. It's being placed like you said behind the neck. I saw advantage 2 but it said for large cats Simba isn't large. If that's all they have should I just purchase that one. Thank you in advance trying to figure this out. :-)
Revolution is prescription. I get it from the vet. Eclipse is my cat (black) that I walk on a leash.Hi would That would be for Simba not the kittens right? Hi that is a beautiful name Eclipse. I won't be able to get to vet tonight so best bet is advantage? I'm seeing jumping bugs I'm assuming are fleas in my bathroom and by Simba food I just tried to kill them I'm assuming they are fleas but they are big. I feel so bad for the kittens I hope they aren't suffering from having the fleas. :-(Revolution is prescription. I get it from the vet. Eclipse is my cat (black) that I walk on a leash.
Advantage II comes in 2 sizes, Small cats, under 9 lbs and Large cats over 9 lbs.
You can also get the Advantage for dogs (not all dog flea treatments are ok for cats) and using a small syringe put 1 ml on Simba and a swab behind each kittens ears. Recap the container and use again next month.
If you do this, make sure to mark the syringe somehow so you do not use it to feed or give medicine to the cat or kittens,
It is possible she mated with more than one tom, so if you have any girl gingers dad would have to be ginger to those ginger girls, but the dad of the torties can't be ginger. Can you really tell by that. The lil grey and black/orange I think are girls. The 2 cream orange I think are boys but there is an orange I think might be a girl I tried checking and didn't see on her what the other 2 orange are. You will save a ton if you just get the one for extra large dogs, it's the same identical formula for dogs and cats, noting not all flea meds are this way though.
Simba if she is small only needs about .6, over 8 lbs is .8 (that's point 6 and point 8) mls.
The kittens at 5 weeks can have point 1 1/2 mls at the back of their neck.
When you treat them, set the syringe tip on their skin, not fur, go under the fur.
No worries about the kittens, it's not going to hurt them.
Hi that makes sense. I think the father is all dark grey actually very gorgeous he was dumped and joined my ferals I feed. She escaped before being fixed. There are definitely no male gingers. So the one I think is a girl is probably a boy. She is very young and this was her first litter. I read young and first litter never have 5 like she did. So I'm wondering and think it was two litters. Thank you :-)It is possible she mated with more than one tom, so if you have any girl gingers dad would have to be ginger to those ginger girls, but the dad of the torties can't be ginger.
That was another member who said the ears, I only put it on them between the shoulders, just use your fingers to spread apart their fur and put it directly on skin is all.I ran to petco before closing they only had large cats 2 pack. One is .8. For Simba that goes on her back between shoulder blade. For the kittens I have to do the ear or can I do the back. I know you said back just now but I think before you said behind ears. They are so fluffy especially the oranges to get to their skin. They are sleeping and I notice they suck or lick each other's ears so do the back right between shoulder blade? Simba cleans them so would she lick it off their back and poison herself. I just want to make sure. I couldn't find a small syringe anywhere I have a bigger one. Should I just use the tube Simba gets a full one and the babies get a dab. Believe It or not I don't think the kittens are going to give me a problem but Simba will trying to put that on her. Since she is so nervous. Okay please let me know if these directions sound good to do.

I wish you had a syringe, because you can dose the entire fam with those 2 tubes.
If you don't, then put 4 drops on each kitten.
Mom won't be poisoned if she were to lick it off, she would just get to drooling and foamy mouth because of the taste.
You don't want it off of them anyway, so just allow 15 minutes away from her after dosing the kids.
I just did Simba I couldn't get between shoulder I started mid head down a little she was not into it to much. Going to do the babies. No need to rub it in, the med travels all over her body from the skin oils.
Hi thank you so much. They did go but it was later in day after I wrote you thankfully. All in litter box I'm in amazement how they all learned in 2 days. They do play inside it and 3 fell asleep in litter box last night I picked them up and placed them in their bed. The black cries a lot but when I'm there she stops and plays. I did give them all a few drops of the advantage II In back of neck. Orange 2 was scratching a little after. I have nats everywhere I thought it was fleas but I looked them up on internet. Coming from my bathroom. There were a few floating in the cat bowls and I change the water sometimes every hour so I don't know why. Hopefully the advantage will work for the fleas. I'm cleaning constantly. They usually do go daily but it's nothing to worry about if they don't, as long as it doesn't continue on for days, then you know they must be constipated.
Normal healthy kittens won't be constipated though, sure they will be just fine.
As long as there is weight gain all is well, if I were you I wouldn't be worried about them at all, they are healthy fat kittens and have progressed perfectly.
At 5 weeks they are still very little but out of the woods now.
You made me laugh, she won't eat the kittens!!Hi thank you so much. They did go but it was later in day after I wrote you thankfully. Any advise on the next steps to getting them ready in the next few weeks for the 3 that have homes. I don't mind keeping them extra but I know the 3 people are waiting. But it's what's best for the kittens. It's the lil grey, big orange, and black. I read about introducing scents. Should I start separating them one at a time for how long a day. It's hard because space Is limited where I am. Another question is coming up will be Simba being fixed I'll try my best to wait as long as I can. But she has given me a lot of stress the past 5 weeks with the crying as you know. How will she be fixed when she needs to be without food before surgery and if I take it away she will eat the kittens there is no separating them. I don't know how that will work. She will sneak water and food in I know her. Any thoughts or advise would be appreciated.
