Well, very surprised to see this on our guy this morning. He's property of the office where I work but he's definitely attached to me. He's quite the mouser so the warble thing actually makes sense although I hadn't felt any lump on him before (& he sits on my lap at least twice a day). I've also been very diligent about brushing him; I use a Furminator. Dropped him off at the vet first thing & she said it looked infected so they would have to sedate, examine, clean out and suture w/drain, then, antibiotics. I saw some green/grey tissue within the wound & the first thing I thought was necrosis but perhaps that was just the infection. I didn't see any object nor anything dead or alive inside of it & the vet didn't say anything about a bot fly or parasite. It doesn't appear to be an animal bite since it's a single puncture and what really seems strange is the hair loss at the site -as if he was given a close shave- and that the hole was almost a perfect oval shape. I'll update as soon as I hear back!
