I'm worried about him and I'm not sure what to think. Since yesterday afternoon he has been really lethargic. He spends all of his time curled up in one of the cat carriers we have on the porch for the cats, or on a folded up towel that we have in a chair. He usually has a lot of energy (one of the reasons we named him Ninja, he moves really fast) but I haven't seen him move much, if at all since yesterday.
He usually goes hunting every day, but hasn't the past two, and if he has to pee he normally goes out to our woods, but today he just walks out into the grass a bit and then comes right back. He also normally has a good body shape, but it seems like he has lost quite a bit of weight just in the past couple days. I don't know if he is eating, I haven't seen him do so, but then again I'm not out there all the time. His stomach is really sunken.
Our vet charges a big "new patient" fee, and we are pretty broke right now so I can't afford to take him to the vet. Plus, he is still kinda feral even though he will let me pet him once in a while, so I think the trip (it is a 1 hour drive, one way) would be extremely stressful on him.
Is there anything I can do for him? Anything I should keep an eye out for? Any other suggestions? I put a frozen water bottle up next to the outside of the carrier that he's in so he keeps cool, and I have a fan blowing on him. I feel so helpless.
