Will My Kitten Be Long Or Short Haired?

Hi all,

We recently adopted a male kitten and we name him Monkey. Monkey is about 9 weeks old. He doesn't seem to have long body hair, except his back hair, but he does have long ear and toe tufts. We are just curious if you could point us to what cat breed/ mix he is and whether he will grow up into a long or short hair cat.

He's a real cutie! He probably will be a medium-hair. His fur would be longer now if he were going to be a long hair.

Aww thank you for your compliment. Ya, we also noticed that his body hair has not been growing much but his paw and ear tufts has grown a lot.

Hi! Replying to this thread several years later because my kitten (Cricket - pictured here!) looks like a dead ringer for Monkey, and I had the exact same question. Do you have any updates? Pictures would be greatly appreciated - it would be so interesting to see a possible future version of Cricket.
