Will flash on my camera hurt my cat?

She is about 12-13 years old and healthy. Should I use flash when taking a photo of her?

It shouldn't hurt her, but cats don't photograph well using flash.
Lots of natural light is best, otherwise, a brightly lit room.
Flash causes light refraction in their eyes and generally washes out their color.
