Why Cats Sleep With Us

There is no doubt that our cats consider the bed as their property and they allow us to use it.

What a sweet video! Once, I accidentally left a heating pad on the couch at night (it had auto shutoff, so it wasn't a huge danger.) My cat was cuddling with me there, so she knew where it was if she just wanted warmth, but she still came to sleep with me. It made me so happy to know it wasn't only for the warmth that she chose to sleep in bed, but that she likes the security and comfort of staying with the family.

When I turn the lights off at night, both cats come to the bedroom with me and watch expectantly for me to undress and get in bed. Then they both hop in and snuggle close. Sometimes they squabble over who get the prime spot - behind my knees.

I've always thought it reminded them of being kittens and lying in a heap with their littermates.

Too late!

Thats an old photo, they have already gained another couple of pounds each. This xmas they will be 5 years old and should stop growing then.....hopefully.
