My house has been a MESS for the past 2 weeks!
DH started tiling the floors in the bathroom, foyer, pantry, coat closet, and plans to finish the family room and kitchen by Labor Day. We have no downstairs bathroom right now, and haven't for over two weeks. He slipped on a wrench, and broke the old toilet, but not himself, thankfully, so he had to buy a new one. The living room and dining room have the contents of the bathroom, foyer, coat closet and pantry in them. Two weeks ago, we had a bad storm, I came home to a huge puddle on the living room floor, and it ruined that flooring (laminate wood). Yesterday, he cut out a very large hole in order to see where the leak came from. Even though it's on the ground floor, we still had a ceiling leak. He thinks he's fixed it, but we have to make sure, so I can't put the sofa back yet--which is good, since the new bathroom vanity top is in back of it...
I also have the rest of the new bathroom fixtures in the family room. Classy.
The cats have been walking on the tile in the foyer today, which is not to be walked on yet, as the mortar hasn't dried. Marge moved a few tiles when she walked on them. Oh, and the poor things can't get out to the garage, where the litter boxes are, and the indoor one needs changing (we can go out the back door, through the garage, but we can't keep the garage door up, as the cats could get out). It's raining, so bringing in un-covered litter---you get the idea! DH started working before I woke up, or I would've organized all of this in advance. Luckily, I always keep a bunch of Kat-Kit litter pans in the garage for emergencies.
And the ants coming in by the stove are driving me insane! We've tried spraying, vinegar, ant bait traps, to no avail.
