Most of Fromm's veggies are pretty far down the ingredient list, but they do seem to have too many of them, for marketing reasons I suppose, but it is a pretty solid food choice over all.

Arcana/Orijin's US plant just isn't worth it, IMO. The costs didn't drop with the quality, so there just seem to be better choices, in value, quality, or both.

Merrick isn't bad, and I've fed it to my cat, she just doesn't like it s much as some other offerings.

Dogs Naturally is unfortunately known for being somewhat extremist :/.

According to the AAFCO, anything defined as "meat" must come from a cow, pig, sheep, or goat. If it's from another species it needs to be specifically labeled. EXCEPT for "meat meal" "meat and bone meal" and "animal by-product meal", which can come from any animal. So it's probably best to avoid very cheap foods that include those ingredients. Here's the whole thing; they're really very specific about definitions and terms: The Association of American Feed Control Officials > Consumers > What is in Pet Food
