How long does it take for a female to get used to a new male? I'm guessing in March my girl will be ready. I have no idea how long I'm looking at losing her while shes being bred.
Oh boy 2 months without Meeka... Actually this is why I asked because a friend said they had to send theirs out for 2-3 months once before and another time they bred right off. I didn't know if that was the norm or not. It is local, about 3 hours away from me so thats not to bad. I could probably get her out on her first day of heat but I just dont' know how easily she would come around to another cat...Originally Posted by GoldenKitty45
I've sent my females out several times. They usually stayed about 2 months as if they are in heat when first going out, they may stop when getting to the stud's house and you have to wait on them to come back in.
If you use locally, then you can shorten the time, as you have a better chance of catching them in heat and staying in heat.
Thats how I feel. Though my fiance won't miss the heat. Hope will be devastated to lose her play buddy.... Oooh boy I just thought of another thing. When she is pregnant will she slow down?? I mean she is still young and though she will be older when I breed her...well she'll still be young and playful. I wouldn't want her to be playing to rough now.Originally Posted by gayef
My husband and I both simply adore Lex and I know this house will be sad and lonely without her, even for a short time.
I've been told all along that that is what I should do. But my breeder is thinking her second might be better (don't want to wait too long either because of infertility issues with the EG's). But I don't think she is physically near where I want her yet. I'm hoping by her 2nd heat she will be bigger but its possible she will just be a small cat. Unfortunately I can't even weigh her because my scale is all messed up. I can't imagine shes any more than 6 pounds though (hehe 6 pounds of pure muscle!). Heres the best picture I have of her in relation to me for sizing:Originally Posted by Kai Bengals
Well since Meeka is a bengal, she may not drop out of heat, or she might go out for a week and be right back in. You never know with this breed, I've had queens drop out of heat for 2 or 3 days and go right back in. It can drive you crazy, if you're trying for a specific match-up or time frame.
Was there a specific reason you wanted to wait for the 3rd heat?
