My cat nouni is heavily pregnant, she is on her 62nd or 63rd day. I could feel and see the kittens moving but there is no signs of milk. Is that normal or should i be worried? And when do they usually start producing milk? Please help
I've had several pregnant cats and none of them developed milk before they delivered. Just like in humans the babies need the colostrum that is present to begin with, then the milk comes in. I'm sure there are exceptions to this, but I know I couldn't tell in mine.
Agreed it's no cause for concern. Many don't start lactating until labor begins. As a general rule kittens come around two weeks after you first see/feel them moving, so if you know when that was then that may help you have a better idea.
So long as, after delivery, the kittens are suckling and spend most of their time being quiet then they are getting enough to eat. Make sure you get a scale that weighs in grams and try to weigh them at the same time everyday. Average daily gains are between 10-15 grams. Any sign of weight loss and you should get them to a vet ASAP, though I honestly don't know how the vet care is in the UAE. If you don't have access to a vet, weight loss would be an indication that you may need to supplement their feeding.
But, one thing at a time. Let's wait till they are born first and go from there!
My Ginny gave birth 24 hours ago but had no signs of milk before it happened but the 1st kitten began suckling within 10 mins of being born and you could hear it getting the milk. Good luck.
My cat Sugar<Missing> had milk before birth but my cat Mikaela wen I found her she was 2 days from giving birth she had no milk tell 3 days after giving birth
