Here's a thread with some OLD pictures, and from the day I moved in, so they are incredibly chaotic and messy, but that's my apartment!

Your apartment is decorated so well! It reminds me of a better-decorated version of the apartment I lived in my senior year of college, all by myself- no roomates, no Ian, just me and Oliver! It was fun- the first and last time I lived by myself.Originally Posted by lionessrampant

Uh, is "cat hair" a decorating theme?
Our house was built in '99, so its pretty updated. Stainless steel appliances/granite in the kitchen. Here's a few pictures from right after we moved in, so there's still stuff all over the place, but gives you some idea:

I would check with your landlord to find out what he/she thinks about you painting the walls (if you haven't all ready). There is some sort of law here that apartment complex owners must paint in between tenants. I would think that if you ask about painting it the worst they would say is that you must paint it white again before moving out or at the very least put a coat of kilz over it. Might be worth checking in toOriginally Posted by babyharley
Me too! I love our little apartment, but I really want a "real house" so I can paint, tear up carpet and do what I want, without worrying about a landlord!
I want to paint in here SO bad, the bland white walls are getting to me!
Karen, I think that yellow would look really great in there, I love your kitchen!
Haha, me too!! It's a young person's home decorating paradise (really, or older people, too, it's just a store finally inexpensive enough for us "first-timers")Originally Posted by eupnea

Hmmm....I might have to check into that!Originally Posted by squirtle

Might be worth checking in toWe were in our apartment over 3 years before buying our house. White walls do become "bland".
I would definately ask then, and especially since you have been there a year. I say that because I am not sure how your lease runs, but ours was year to year. We never gave them any problems and paid our rent on time so they would have been happy to allow up to paint the walls. That meant we weren't movingOriginally Posted by babyharley

The white walls get so dull and blah! We've only been there a year, but still, I want some COLOR!

You should have seen us paining our house when we moved in. My fiance's friend would stop by and listen to us moan and groan about painting our bedroom. The previous owners had it bright pink! It took 1 coat of Kilz and 2 coats of white paint to cover up. We were so sick of painting that we decided that was all we were doing. His friend decided to "help" us by going to each room in the house and spreading paint over parts of the walls so we were forced to continue paintingWe took the easy way out and painted most everything white and now I am ready for new colors..... I am just not looking forward to doing it.
