I had a "lady" lamp, she was like a doll with a real fancy dress that had a very "disaproving" look, and it was alot worse when the lamp was turned on because the whole doll lit up and it was like it was possesed or something, I told my mom I hated it and could I please have another one, but of course it didn't bother her and she always would turn it on low when I went to bed and it would be staring at me....I would turn it around so I didn't have to see it's face looking at me while I was trying to go to sleep....ughOriginally Posted by Hydroaxe
When you were a child, were there any things you were afraid of that might make you laugh thinking about it now?I remember some painted, wood carved masks (African style or something) that some friends of my parents had in their basement. When we'd go over there I'd be all excited (at the ripe age of 3 or 4) to drive around the authentic looking pedal car downstairs, but these scary masks bothered me if I was alone in the basement, so I'd go back upstairs soon after anyone left the basement, but without telling them why.
I have a cousin who had a cute toy barn from Fisher Price when he was 4 or 5. When you opened the barn door you would hear a strange moo sound from inside the barn. It wasn't a recording, or battery operated so it sounded weird. He used to be scared of that sound.

My own bedroom carpet. When I was about 5-6, I had a blue bedroom carpet that looked for all the world like water. Ok, so I watched too many nature documentaries - always have done - but I used to have visions of crocodiles that lived in my carpet (yes, in a bedroom carpet in Scotland, how stupid), and I'd literally leap the 7 feet or so from bedroom door to bed just so the crocs woudln't get me!Don't anyone laugh!

She verbally abused me and physically abused me all my childhood and made me feel worthless and no good. She still does it now. The verbal abuse was the worst.Originally Posted by Aussie Cat Love
