I was born in Germany to two US citizens, so the first country I visited was the US, when I was three months old.
In my case, anyway, it has always been easy because for most of my life I have lived within a (figuratively speaking) stone's throw of the border with Canada. Even now it's only a half an hour away. Its funny how many of us are answering Niagara Falls!
We used to not need a passport for Canada, too. First country I needed a passport for was England at the age of 15 (my family did England, France, Switzerland and Germany in that trip, but England was first).Tricky question for anyone born in the UK. I was born in England and visited Scotland, Wales and Ireland before I was ten, but I didn't need a passport for any of those places. First place where I actually needed a passport was Spain when I was 11 or so.
Ireland is in my bucket list. Beautiful country!Ireland. I first went there when I was five and when the plane landed surrounded by gorgeous green fields at Shannon Airport, I thought I was in a magically place. I have visited numberous times afterwards. Always has a good time there. Hope to go back one day.
Do go when you have a chance. You'll love it!!! I need to go again when I have the chance. I miss Ireland.Ireland is in my bucket list. Beautiful country!
Unless you flew, or went the long way via Detroit- Windsor, you came through my part of the country, crossing at the Peace Bridge at Buffalo; the Rainbow Bridge at Niagara Falls; or the Lewiston-Queenston Bridge. I've been over all 3, plus the Whirlpool Bridge before it went Nexus Pass only.Toronto
