What Breed Is My Tabby Cat?

Hello all

I’ve had Harley a few weeks and I’ve been trying to figure out what breed he’s most closely related to! He’s very playful, quite vocal and has developed a super strong bond with me, he follows me everywhere! Anyone have any ideas?

There’s no particular breed influence really screaming at me with him, but maybe other posters can see something I don’t. About 95% of cats are mixed breed, so when those interbreed it can become difficult to tell what breeds they might have had in their ancestry. Harley is absolutely adorable and sweet nonetheless, and you could call him a brown mackeral tabby Domestic Shorthair.

I agree. Possibly even a black and silver, Im not sure. That is not that common among the broad moggie population, but it happens.

The vet told me that my cat is a Grey American short hair. It’s a fancy name for a mutt. Lol.

I think your vet meant Domestic Shorthair. American Shorthair is an officially recognized pedigree cat: Breed Profile: The American Shorthair

Your beautiful kitty would be called a brown classic (aka marbled or bullseye) tabby Domestic Shorthair.
