What breed is my recently adopted rescue?

Hey guys! This adorable fluff ball is Dexter. My boyfriend and I found him on Craigslist and decided we had to have him. Of course we were left with very little information. They said he is about 8 months old, but it's hard to believe because he is so big. He weighs 9 pounds and has the longest tail I've ever seen. It's longer than his body right now. As you can see, bright green eyes and a short haired grey coat. He is strong but slender. He is covered in beautiful markings that range from light grey to dark grey. He is extremely vocal and affectionate. We were surprised at how well behaved he was after leaving a shelter. I would appreciate any input on what his breed could be. I am new to this and with all the research Ive done I have nothing solid. Thanks in advance!

Wow , he is gorgeous . Congrats !  I would say he is Domestic Shorthair  ..

He looks very much like my boy Philippe ..

Aww, thank you so much . Philippe and his sister Mei Li both came from our local animal shelter ..
