What Breed Does My Cat Resemble? Egyptian Mau?

My neighbors abandoned this striking and handsome cat. He is very friendly and loving. I thought he looked like an oriental shorthair because of his pointy face and big ears. He has a very muscular and long neck, very long legs, green eyes. My vet says he looks like an Egyptian Mau. He is microchipped but for some reason my vet couldn't get through to them.

What do you think?

I agree with your assessment vs that of the vet, he seems to be more of an Oriental lookalike than an Egyptian Mau lookalike- because he seems to be more towards a broken mackeral tabby in pattern (the lighting is really good on the last picture, so I can see that there) instead of the well-defined spots of an Egyptian Mau. He's a very cool-looking cat!

G Giovanna - The long striped legs and tail, eye colour, large pointed ears, very distinct scarab and the broken rosetted coat showing a ticked undercoat suggest rather strongly that he's an Arabian Mau. Dear Lord, but he's an incredibly handsome fellow!
