i have a stray we took in last week and she keeps putting her chest in the water dish and even her paws sometimes, does anyone know what this could be from??
it could be, she also comes to us when she does it, i wonder if its an attention thing since she was a stray. She then is more then welcome to be dried and brushed, also i posted on other threads but maybe you can help me. We brought her in last wednesday from our back yard, she was at our door for like 3 days. We took her to the vet, she was underweight, really dirty. The vet gave her her shots, and an IV since she was dehydrated. We also took her to the groomer and she had to be shaved since her fur was pretty badly matted. Now, she still shakes/shivers, the vet wants to a blood panel to see if there are any other problems. Could she be shaking from the shave? Or could she still be sick? any help would be thankful.Originally Posted by taterbug
To me, it sounds like she isn't used to drinking from a dish. Maybe she only had water from rainwater puddles before she came to you.
Well, I'm no vet, but it could be because she's cold or still weak from not having enough food. But, if you have her inside and you're comfortably warm, she may still be dehydrated, have low blood sugar, or a number of other things. One thing you might could try....if you have any white corn syrup, see if you can get her to lick a drop or two off your finger. It's safe...and it might help if her sugar is low.Originally Posted by vegasrob
