Ha! I wish.

We both have a habit of setting money aside (hiding it, actually) for a future house project or a vacation trip. The other day, Rick came over to the computer room where I was sitting and said, "Hmmm, I found $200!" and then told me where he found it. He had put it away and forgot about it. Last night, he said, "Holy crap! I found $300!" and again, it was money that he had put away and forgot about it.

I think that, between what he found and what I've been saving, we might have enough to do that front door and storm door. Not sure about the window I'd like to install. We were going to do it last year, but it didn't work out.

I'm going to call the contractor and see if he'll come down, check things out, and give us an estimate on his labor costs.

Have you ever put money away, forgot about it, and then found it again a while later?

When I moved 5 years ago, I kept cash in the house to pay the workmen for the jobs that were needed. I thought I had used it all. Three months ago I decided to clean out the drawer that holds my spare linen and I found £50. Not enough for a world cruise but very welcome none the less.

I've found money that I've hidden in shoes.

I just got my check from Publisher's Clearing House!! 10 whole dollars! I told DD that I might need an armed bodyguard to escort me into the bank to deposit a windfall like that! You should see the envelope it came in. It's HUGE!

Both Michele and I are savers, with money stashed here and there in the house, but both of us know where- just not where the other one has stashed it.

Winchester Winchester How fun to find a stash you forgot you had! :clapcat:

We save coins. I always know where it is, but not how much is there. Hubby periodically rolls it all up and we count up our 'fortune.'

I almost never have cash, so I'm not going to find a big stash anywhere. But every now and then I find a $10 or $20 in a coat or pants pocket and that's always fun :D.

I stash money in my savings account. I love watching it grow as I add more, and I'm thankful to myself that it's there when I need it. (tho it bums me out when I need it as I watch it go down..)

Many years ago, I lost my wallet on moving day with my rent money in it. Found it 18 months later when I moved again. It was in a dresser I put in a storage facility.

I haven't in a long time. We don't use cash much so it doesn't go far.

I did find a check from my mom for my birthday nearly a year after the fact. DD was a baby for that birthday. I blame that.

I don't tote much cash in my purse when I go out. Some time back, I was dusting the bedroom. I have a few knick knack shelves on the wall with lacy spreads. I found fifty dollars under one of those spreads, probably that I took out of my purse before I left to go somewhere.

I don't get out much and have a emergency fund I keep on hand for people that run errands for me. When I do get out I usually just use my credit card and don't use cash.

Happily, yes. Quite a bit of it.

Just before we got rid of one of our cars, we meticulously emptied out every nook and cranny. Stashed in a wheel well was $600 we'd put there when we went on vacation years before!

I find unclaimed money in our state's unclaimed money fund fairly often. I actually have almost $13,000 I need to claim. That's a TON of money and I better get it into the bank instead. I have a few uncashed checks I've misplaced. We were recently going through my late mom's silverware and found a sack of silver dollars.

Yeah, it's pretty irresponsible.

My husband knows I love to collect dollar coins, so he hides them for me to find. I've found them a sealed bag of Fritos, in the middle of a muffin, plopping out of the bathtub faucet, hanging from the ceiling, and yesterday, while I was getting a unit of blood, the nurse came in and told me I needed to take the medicine in a little cup. It was a dollar coin Robert asked her to give me!

Everyone should check their state's unclaimed money site. The state just keeps the money and there's no fee to claim it. I've found hundreds of dollars for friends. Beware of sites that claim they'll get the money for you. Check this legitimate site for more information.

I have a piggy bank and whenever I get a 500 yen coin in my purse I put it in the pig. Last time it was full I took the coins to the bank and I'd managed to save about 70,000 yen ($630)

It takes me about a year to fill the piggy bank, but it's a good way to save up a little something for a rainy day.
