I know the pic probably won't help much - Maple is super-white underneath with black fur, so a lot of contrast! But at the top, you can see a sore. I know she has a tag on that side, wondering if she licked it a lot and it's sore now? And in the process made some of her hair fall out?

I went to call the vet but they closed five minutes before that point, so will have to call tomorrow. In the meantime, I welcome any thoughts. Pretty sure this doesn't warrant an ER trip. She's not acting bothered by it. I just happened to really notice the bald spot today though. It doesn't look like she has ringworm or anything, but of course will have to let the vet determine that for sure. I'm thinking it's related to the sore spot.

It looks like a scab fell off and took fur with it. At least to me. Usually some sort of skin problem itself will look red or dry.

Have you been to the vet yet?

Not yet, but she has an appointment at 9am tomorrow. I forgot what a pain it is to take her to the vet in the morning. That is her nap time in a hard to reach spot. Oh, and she weighs 17 lbs.

Mornings are the easiest for mine because they don't settle down until 10 or 11. Different schedules lol.

Link had a spot that looked kinda like that and it ended up being a bug bite of some sort. When the vet shaved it the whole area was dead skin where the fur had fallen off but not the dead skin yet. Like I said, my other guess would be a wound of some sort that formed a scab.

Saying them both they are fairly similar. In my case I got a topical oil to prevent infection (neosporne works but the oil soaks in so the cat doesn't injest it) and the fur regrew once it healed up.

Hoping yours is as simple. Let us know how it goes.

Maple is 15, so most of her schedule involves sleeping. The rest involves eating, lol. I'm hoping for nothing major, would be more than happy to be overreacting vs my worry being validated.

I was right about the skin tag being infected. There was also some dead tissue there that he removed. I normally am not icked out by stuff but I did have to sit down at one point while they did it. She ironically didn't seem bothered at all by him picking out pieces of her, other than the fact she was pissed off being there, haha. It's all cleaned out and now she's got a "disk of shame" on. She looks like a flower :D

And what a pretty little flower she is.

Well wishes for a speedy recovery.
