I know. On New Year's Day, we were in the upper 40s. Yesterday, Tuesday, we barely made it to the mid-20s with a howling wind and snow squalls. And this morning, when I got into my car, it was 9 degrees! I guess winter has finally come to my neck of the woods. (Although by this weekend, we should be back into the mid-40s again for a couple of days, before the next low hits us.) It's really strange.
But I can do without inches of new snow twice a week during the next couple of months. I hope that whenever we get precip, the temperature stays in the mid-to-upper 40s, so it falls as rain! And no freezing rain!
VERY unusual weather for Chicago area this winter so far. Yes, we had a couple of cold day's earlier this week. BUT back up into the forties again. AND no snow....... I have a feeling we will be paying dearly for this nice, mild winter.....
When I left work yesterday to come home, it was 58 degrees! Breezy, but sunny and gorgeous!
I walked yesterday during lunch and wore my heavy winter coat. What a mistake that was. Til I got back to work, I was sweating and very uncomfortable. Couldn't wait to change out of my t-shirt. It was way too warm for a coat.....a sweatshirt would have been more comfortable. But at the beginning of this week, I was in my winter coat, with my ear muffs, scarf, and gloves! And by Friday....a sweatshirt would have been great. Go figure.
It's been crazy over on this side of the Atlantic, too. On Thursday, we had a violent thunderstorm followed by hail, and an hour later it was snowing. Right now it's 40°F/4°C and raining.
