Back in late December i had an incident where my cat had to be taken away and put into a shelter. I was called the next day and told that i can claim her back but she couldnt be released to me yet because she had to stay under observation for rabies for 10 days and then they had to do a spay/ neuter surgery before they let me have her. Once i was told to come pick her up i was sent home empty handed bc the lady told me she had a kitty cold and could not get the surgery til she was well again so i waited for her to get better and i finally got to bring her home in February but when she came back i noticed things were off. she looked a bit larger she meows constantly whenever i leave and she meows until i go over to let her sniff my hand and pet her and she has a new black line down the center of her nose that was not there before and her bell was gone. I noticed all of these things when she first came home but i was just so happy to have her back that i just told myself i was buggin. She was always under me and licking me but shes way more affecionate now and shes always trying to lick my skin raw and rub her face against me or my hand. Maybe im paranoid but did they give me a different cat back or?? And if this is my cat what is that black line down her nose (i will try to put pictures) and should i be worried?

Hi! The bell unfortunately probably got lost during surgery.
How old is she, in other words is she still growing, also this (maturing body and head shape) may be where the nose line is coming from? Or she was fed food that was higher in carbs, which could account for some weight gain.
She missed you a lot, I think and is thrilled to be back home!!
Other than the nose line, she looks like your cat and is behaving like your cat, just more friendly, is that right? I mean, I'm assuming she wasn't microchipped, is she now, hopefully
EDIT I just saw that in your title, you're saying that your cat is an adult, sorry, so obviously she's not still growing.

Nose color can change, and sometimes if they rub their nose on something (like the cage bars), that can cause dark spots. It may fade with time or spread or stay the way it is now, no way to tell. It looks like the same kitty :).

It's not safe for a cat to wear a collar in a cage which is probably why they removed it. Her being clingy and overly affectionate is normal after being separated from you for a few months. I'm sure she'll settle back into her regular routine after a while.

I'm sure you understand the importance of keeping her up-to-date on her rabies shot now! What was the incident that caused all the trouble?

So she probably was chipped. . .check the paperwork they gave you to see if there's any microchip registration info. You have to make sure all your information is correct. They might have registered her for you but you'll want to confirm that.

I made a post about it in detail up here maybe you can find it if you want to read the whole story to understand but long story short she attacked everyone in the house except my uncle and had to be captured by police and taken out of the house i only got a bite mark but my mom and nephew was clawed up and bitten way worse than me

I just read her history and I am so sorry for all you both have been through. My gosh, I can't even imagine. Is it possible to rehome her? I know how much you love her, but your bf doesn't and this must be confusing to her. Her cage looks cozy and roomy, but I am not sure that is good for long term. Regardless of what happens, clearly you have missed her and surely she has missed you, too! Also, rabies vaccine can make them act wierd and kind of sick. She is absolutely gorgeous!!

Oh, that's you! Now I remember, --well, she got spayed, that could also be why she's calmer, possibly. How is the family with her now? Are you still keeping her in your room?

My boyfriend doesn’t like her but he does try to pet her and be nice bc he knows how I feel about her but i have decided to only keep her in the cage until everything in the house is finished being deep cleaned to eliminate any unfamiliar smells that can trigger her once that is finished she will be free to roam around the upstairs and she seems to be comfortable in her own space bc there is a smaller carrier inside the giant cage that she she goes into whenever someone stays in my room too long and when i open the door of the cage she doesn’t budge or even attempt to come out of the cage she just goes in the corner of the cage and sit with her head tilted to the side

Sounds like it's all going to be okay. I am glad your bf tries to pet her, maybe eventually they will bond.

So, do you feel in your heart that this is your cat, I hope?
When you say she's larger, did you mean heavier, or taller/longer. I apologise I assumed you meant heavier...

Yeah i meant heavier bc she ate a lot before she went into the shelter but still stayed slim and very small compared to her brother(my nephews mothers cat) when i got her back she just looked like she was just about his size. It just popped in my head that she was very active and ran around a lot when she was here and maybe put on weight from being kept in the shelter cage with no room to run around bc she’s starting to slim down again and she is eating drinking and using the litter box regularly but she has a lot more room to play here

Oh good, she's getting her 'figure' back :), and I'm so glad that you feel right about her. The earlier suggestions from willowy about nose color changing sounds right, and might even be from the spay.
I think you and your furbaby are ok, and it's nice to hear from you again! Also, she is beautiful!
