I wanted to pass along a recent experience to all regarding vet. clinics;
My older kitty, Queenie was initially mis-diagnosed with a respiratory infection which she's had before. This from a felines-only clinic with four dr.'s that had seen both of mine for the 11 years since I adopted them. Finally the 3rd Dr. told me she thought Queenie had a tumor in her sinuses.
She said the only thing they could do was an endoscopy to reveal the size and location and emphasized that it would not get better. No hope, no encouragement, just borderline mention of euthanizing her. I told the vet. point-blank I was NOT ready to let her go. I took her to a specialty clinic staffed with specialists and emergency 24-Hr. care nearby. What a huge difference. I received nothing but encouragement from the internist who examined Queenie and mapped out a treatment plan. At no time was there any mention made of cancer or euthanizing her, only what they could do to make her better. She had a Rhino-CT with aspiration and a biopsy. Since then (about 2 weeks ago), Queenie has been her old self, playing with her little sister and her toys and eating and drinking normally. She's had no problems breathing and the drainage from her eye and nose has stopped. The greatest Christmas gift I received this year was my little girl sleeping on my lap every evening.
The message here is ALWAYS get at least a 2nd opinion, it may save your kitty's life and your sanity.
Happy New Year !
