Last night Sashka finally managed to initiate an interaction with Ruby that didn't scare the living daylights out of her!!
Ruby had just had her second lot of vaccinations and was exhausted, and so crashed out completely on the lounge room floor when we got home. We've really been keeping her separated from the cats because she is very rambunctious and it freaks them out a bit, but obviously they need to start interacting at some stage.
Anyway, we opened the door to the bedroom to let them come out in their own time (poor things are getting SUCH cabin fever!!) and little Sashka came tiptoeing out. She ended up sitting in front of Ruby for an HOUR - never took her eyes off her the whole time - and watched her while she slept, dreams, fidgets and all. She even got brave enough to sneak up and sniff Ruby's nose at one point. When Ruby finally woke up and sat up, she just sat there really still and didn't do anything, and Sashka decided after a couple of minutes that that was enough and wandered back off into the bedroom where she watched from the doorway.
I AM SO PROUD OF MY LITTLE GIRL!!!!! She has been so frightened of Ruby and this time she was able to initiate and end contact on her own terms, in full control, and NOT have a bad experience. I can only hope this is the beginning of a beautiful relationship...lol
