I've heard that giving male cat's any seafood flavored products can cause urinary issues. Is this true?
Well that sucks!Originally Posted by beandip
To some extent...yes.
It mainly aggravates existing urinary problems...but consistently feeding foods high in magnesium (like fish, seafood) could be asking for trouble in a cat that doesn't have urinary problems. I do feed fish, but very rarely is it a completely "fishy" flavor...we do a lot of poultry/fish blends.Oh, and I don't let my bladder-problem boy have it except for maybe a rare treat.
That goes for any cat, male or female. The only difference is that the same problems are more complicated in a male.
Will do! Hopefully, at one point, it will no longer interest her or just be a rare 'treat'!Originally Posted by beandip
Personally, if Boo hasn't had any bladder trouble and that food is *the* wet food she's willing to eat, then I would still feed it. Eventually I'd be trying to move to some higher quality food.
