How To Find A Qualified Cat Vet That Know How To Locate & Confirm Remaining Reproductive Tissue

_______________________________________________________________

I am late in reporting Misty's status to all of you.

First I must thank three posters for info, suggestions, and advice they have given me. Hyda, 1catovertheline, and Silkenpaw. Silkenpaw suggested VCA Hollywood Animal Hospital in Hollywood, FL where I met two outstanding Vets that solved Misty's "In Heat" episode problem. 1catonertheline had suggested a test that could identify the cause, Hyda offered some possibilities as well. Without each of these posters helping me, I would have been lost! The cause of Misty's problem of "in heat " episodes was remaining reproductive tissue.

1catovertheline had suggested the GnRH Stimulation Test. I went to the Nationwide Specialist Laboratories site and printed out a one and a half page description of several tests regarding this subject. I gave a copy of those pages to my new primary Vet during my initial visit with Misty. She called me the next day to direct me to the last paragraph on the second page that described a AMH (Anti-Mullerian Hormone) test. I had stopped reading on the first page about the GnRH test and never went far enough to see what was the most important part of the info! That test was said to be more reliable than the GnRH test and that is what my vet used. She had an immediate test done and the results confirmed that there was remaining reproductive tissue. A spaying was quickly scheduled and was done July 31, 2018. The Vet that did this spaying only does "soft tissue" surgery for that Hospital, and also had the "advantaged designations" like I had been searching for for several months. Those designations were the same as those of both the Head of the Hospital and my primary vet.

Please note, that if 1catovertheline had not made the suggestion to look at the GnRH test info I would never have found out about the AMH test that solved Misty's problem. It is possible that my original vet may not have known about these tests. In any event a special thanks is in order for 1catovertheline!!

Sorry to be so long winded, but I thought I needed to say all of the above. As of this writing Misty is a happy, energetic cat with a good apatite and has not had any "in heat" episodes since the last spaying. The reason for waiting until now to post this update was to be sure that Misty was over the problem, and several "life happens" delays as well. Thanks to everyone for their support
