My male cat was very out going then he got out of the house one time and was gone for a week while we were looking for him I found a female just like him at the animal shelter. so I adopted her and on the way home I found him he started hiding out after that. That has been about 9 months.Then we got A Teacup Pomeranian about a month ago. I found the male cat hiding in the laundry basket one day the female cat had scratched his ear. so we separated them now he sleeps and hides in his litter box I put some cat houses in with him and he still stays in the litter box. I'm worried he is going to get sick he has been doing this for a month and is looking scraggley.
