Male cat has Cryptorchidism. Vet says cat can not be neutered because at the moment unable to locate the testicle. Cat has started trying to mount a spayed female cat that we have, and constantly fighting a neutered male cat that we have. Has also started marking territory.

Everything thing has been disrupted. These are all indoor cats.

Please guide me in how to manage this. Giving the cat away is not an option.

No, but separation from the other two cats might be a good temporary solution until someone with more behavior experience with cats can help you out.

I had a cat that had that condition as well, but he was our only cat and it didn't really cause problems for him in his life.

I would contact more vets to see if one can find the missing testicle. Until it's removed he will act like a tomcat. Some vets use ultrasound to locate to misxsing testicle before surgery. If that is absolutely not possible you might talk to the vet about hormone therapy (testosterone blockers, etc.).

Ultrasound failed to locate. Vet options are limited where i am, unless i try another city. I will inquire hormone therapy, thankx.

If there is any other advice anybody can give - it would be much appreciated - specially concerning the fighting.

It's hard to fix any of those problems while he still has testosterone coursing through his body. That's just how tomcats act. I think the only way to fix the fighting/mounting/spraying would be either for the vet to find that testicle and get it out or give him hormones.

Again, I encourage you to separate this cat from your other two until that testicle is found and removed or you can start hormone therapy and your crazy boy evens out a bit. Just make him a room where your other two cats are not allowed and keep a closed door between them. It will be stressful, but not as stressful as what you're going through now.

I had the same problem with my cats. I just locked him up in the garage until I could get him neutered. I would let him and the other cats see each other one or two times a week for a couple of minutes so they wouldn't forget each other. But you must separate them because he will get worse.

Here is the strange thing that i have observed - its always the neutered male cat that starts the fights.

On the occasions that non-neutered cat tried to mount the spayed female, i separate them, but then shes always wanting his company.

FouMinou how long did you have to wait ?

You may never find the missing testicle. We didn't find Fuzzy's until he was 13 years old and he passed away about a week later.

If they don't find it within a month or so of searching, you are going to want to talk to an animal behaviorist.

No, an animal behaviorist has to see you and your pet in person in your home environment. If you have a vet in your area, you probably have a behaviorist too. Call your vet and get a referral.

Also.. you would not know if hormone therapy was working or not after less than a day. It takes months to get hormone treatments dialed in to the right level.

Might I suggest that rehoming this cat might be the best thing for him and for you? Obviously, you don't WANT to do that. None of us who are responsible pet owners do, but sometimes, it is in the best interests of our pet to do precisely that. If you could find another responsible pet owner, who will provide a home where he will be the only cat, it might be the best thing for all parties involved.

I'm not sure how many people are gonna want to live with a tomcat :/. Re-homing him may not be an option even if they wanted to.

Yeah, give the hormones a while to work. And try a site-swapping reintroduction with him and the other male.
