Toys in the water bowl?

I keep finding my cats toys in their water bowl! At first I though it got knocked in by accident when they were playing, but I find at least one you a day in there. It's kind of funny, but I'm just wondering why someone seems to want their toy in the water.

My cat does the same thing and typically its with her favorite, most cherished toys. I was so curious that I had to google it. What I remember finding is that they consider feeding/watering areas to be one of their most significant territories so they bring their toys or other prized possessions to those areas for safe keeping of sorts. I find my cat usually brings her treasured toys to where she is fed but sometimes find a submerged toy in a water bowl (I have water and food areas in separate places).
