Toby went back for a checkup today and we are moving forward with trying to get the funds for his endoscopy. The good news is he gained an ENTIRE POUND in less than a month! He's at just 5lbs right now! The sildenafil may be what is helping so I'm still giving it to him. With the change in his vomit now smelling so bad I'm getting worried. So we started a go fund me to see if maybe we can get some of the money for his endoscopy. 5lbs though!!!

Wow it's been a long time. Toby did not have an endoscopy. The specialist decided he didn't think it was necessary. So my vet recommended we go right to a PEG tube. I didn't like this idea.

That was in December. In February Toby had a fever so we decided to start him on antibiotics again. He started coughing and having some server breathing issues. We watched him have a very bad morning if struggling to breath so we decided he needed oxygen and we took him to our vet. We've watching him struggle like this before and he just needed to vomit or get it down. My normal vet was busy so we saw a different lady. And she came in and advised we euthanize him. (They had him on oxygen by this time). She told me as soon as we remove the oxygen he will suffocate. I know my Toby. I told them he's having an allergic reaction to clavamox. Every time he's had these type of breathing issues its been on clavamox!! They said I was wrong and if we weren't going to euthanize him we were being cruel. That the only correct thing for Toby is death. No! No way! I asked for another antibiotic and a RX for oxygen. The vet and the vet techs made me feel awful for not euthanizing Toby. Turns out he really IS allergic to clavamox!! He recovered after a few days on the new meds and was back to being Toby!!
I decided not to go back to that vet. I found a new lady that specializes in cats. We saw her once and she convinced me to see the specialist about a feeding tube. Although I was not going to get him a feeding tube. We saw the specialist in March. She was amazed at how healthy Toby is considering everything. Said he looked great and she would not recommend a feeding tube. But really had no other answers.
Toby aspirated again 2 weeks ago. Got him on antibiotics quickly and he's almost fully recovered. He's doing wonderful. He's over 7lbs!! Almost 8lbs!! He's enjoying our foster kittens. And we just got 4 new ones that look just like him!

aww seeing the old post here made me sad. TJ passed away tragically in January.

But Toby is still going strong. He recently had all his teeth pulled except 1 bottom fang. He had pretty bad stomatitis and corrosion because of vomiting. it has been many months since he last regurgitated so hopefully, he has grown into his condition. He'll be 4 years old in March!
