I came across this poem and I thought it was worth sharing here..

Mirrors are not more wrapt in silences
nor the arriving dawn more secretive ;
you, in the moonlight, are that panther figure
which we can only spy at from a distance.
By the mysterious functioning of some
divine decree, we seek you out in vain ;
remoter than the Ganges or the sunset,
yours is the solitude, yours is the secret.
Your back allows the tentative caress
my hand extends. And you have condescended,
since that forever, now oblivion,
to take love from a flattering human hand.
you live in other time, lord of your realm -
By Jose Luis Borges-

Here is the link to it in Spanish..
It kind of caught me off guard because I had never read such a serious poem about cats- it's not cute or funny like I expected, but I think that means Borges had so much respect for cats to be able to write about them in this way. It may be a little different than the way we think of our kitties as our cherished little babies, but I think it's a nice poem and is pretty accurate, especially if I try to see it from Jake's perspective. If he could read, I know he would like it

This was nice, I wish I could write poetry like this..I especially liked the part about the moonlight, as I sometimes call my babies "my moonlight kitties" because I awoke one night recently to find the 3 cats all next to me on the bed, sleeping, and all 3 illuminated by the bright moonlight coming through the windows...It was the most beautiful sight I have seen in a long, long time...
