Tom, my rescue-kitty (10 years old), has had projectile vomiting issues lately. Yesterday and today he had vomiting sprees... yesterday morning he heaved a whopping eight times, coming up with loads of food twice and the rest of the time smaller and smaller amounts of liquid with only a little kibble, over an hour after he'd eaten. Today he was fed 1/2 hour-45 minutes before he threw up three times, the first time with a large amount of food, the second a smaller amount, and the third with a little liquid. It smelled very nasty this time--I've never smelled that before in cat-throw up, it had an acidic smell to it like human-throw up does.
I left a message for the vets (forgot to leave my phone number--but it's okay, they have my contact info and I'm calling them as soon as they open tomorrow) and am scheduling an appointment as soon as possible, preferably tomorrow.
Tom isn't feeling so well, and I've separated him in the bathroom with his favorite toys and beds so the kittens don't harass him--it's their usual LET'S PLAY AND MAKE IT SOUND LIKE WE'RE KILLING EACH OTHER!!! time, and they'd include him, too.
So, I'd like to know what I need to ask the vets to do for him. We've mentioned our throwing up problems before (this is an ongoing issue) and haven't gotten much of a response; but today and yesterday it's been horrible. After switching our cats over to only bottled, filtered water the throwing up stopped for a month.. but now it's come back.
I don't know if I should ask for her to check for parasites/infections/viruses/do bloodwork/fecal sample/anything. help?
