Hey All:
Though non-feline related, I am calling on your always helpful thoughts, prayers and good vibes.
A friend and coworker of my husband was shot in the head early Monday morning, as he was walking home through what was previously thought to be a safe neighborhood in Chicago. My husband and I were out of town at the time and found out about this, unfortunately, from seeing an account of his attack on the news.
The Police have no leads, no clues, no suspects--he still had his wallet, car keys, watch, etc. so it wasnt a robbery, and he's the most amiable, non-combative person, so he couldn't have gotten into an argument nor does he have any "enemies". He is a good person who has lived a wonderful life and appears to just have been in the wrong place at the wrong time.
He is in critical but stable condition. His prognosis is essentially a question mark.
I would just like to ask for your prayers thoughts and hopes for his recovery, that he can hopefully survive this incredible ordeal and regain a normal life. Prayers and thoughts for his family as well and for his group of friends, including my husband, who are confused, angry and frightened. Also, prayers that the Police can find whomever did this to him, and that they be punished to the full extent of the law.
Sometimes in life we are blindsided by the realization that the world is poisoned with hate and violence. This disease has reached my doorstep now, and I am filled with rage and sadness at the thought of such a good man having to suffer because of it.
thank you
