My cats currently free-feed Innova dry, and they each get about 3oz of Innova wet each evening. I've been thinking about switching them to Wellness and going all wet, but can I trust the guidelines on the can when I determine how much to feed them? Our newest kitty Thomas is 15-16 pounds, and although he is a bit overweight he is still definitely a large cat. The feeding guidelines on the 12.5 oz can of Wellness say to feed 1/2 can for each 6-8 lbs of body weight, so that means Thomas should be eating one full 12.5oz can per day. Does that sound like a reasonable amount?
I don't want to underfeed him, but I don't want to encourage him to overeat either.
Also, should I follow that guideline for Blue (6mo) and Midget (4.5mo) as well, or should they be eating more per pound because they are kittens?
Right now I'm just investigating. Honestly I am not sure if I will go the all-wet route or not because of the expense. I want the best for my kitties, but I think my Dh might draw the line at doubling our monthly cat food expense.
Thanks for any insight you can provide!
