Artie is back from the Vet. He had his first ever enema, and hopefully his last.....

As of the first of December, he began cerenia--every day, non stop... he also fussed, or gave up on food... I had to try tuna, but then he gave up on that.. I had one can of limited ingredient lamb, so I tried that... To my surprise, he gobbled it up!! He had completely refused it last year!!  so now he is on lamb, instead of rabbit...

That changed, and he started eating both the lamb and the rabbit.. because of all the physical stuff going on with him, this past week, he has not take his probiotic or his miralax appropriately... sometimes skipping a couple of doses...

He became constipated...yes, constipated..I stared upping his miralax dose, and making sure he got the probiotic, along with extra water in his food, and even giving him a couple doses of Laxatone.-- still no go...Yesterday, he  went several times into his litter box--dug around, had the muscle contractions and could not get the poop out.. I felt so bad for him.. I knew there was a hard plug in there because his poop should be nice and soft from all the stuff I gave him...

Called the specialist on Thursday.. she suggested an enema at that time =---- I wanted to try my own techniques.(miralax and laxatone--it helped in the past)... After seeing what happened yesterday, I called his regular Vet up...

Long story... she felt a bit of poop in his colon.. did a rectal, felt a piece of rock hard poop which she could not get out...poor baby... so She hydrated Artie, gave him a small enema, a shot of Cerenia for the nausea... and a script for lactulose, incase this happens again... along with telling me that she would be very happy to teach me to give sub-q fluids....so that I do not have to have him go through this again...I really like this new Vet..

Artie is a poopy mess.. I waited an hour and a half after the administration of the enema, before taking him home; but he stop was pooping on the way home.... covered in poop--- a mess on his lower half... poor baby.. I felt so bad.

Artie is such a clean cat.. He was crying all the way home.. He is usually very quiet...

I got him home, putting him in his bathroom with the litter boxes.. Artie was a mess, the towels were a mess...

I had to try to clean him off; one half a container of baby wipes. he kept pooping and dribbling.  I did close him in the bathroom, but he was so scared and upset.. after an hour, I could not stand him crying, moaning, trying to physically open the door... I had to go in, wash his bum and tail with Dawn and water...and let him out...

I have every surface where he lies, covered with a spare towel... he wants to hide....poor thing.. He cannot hide under them.. he is really messy and smells so bad....I need help giving him a bath...I may ask my neighbor to help me tomorrow... I cannot do that to him today.. he is still pooping on occasion; it is water at this time....

I feel so bad for him... my apartment stinks.. that is the least of it...I have one load of towels in the washer now... second wash with bleach and Nature's Miracle Laundry Aid....

A box of food from Chewy arrived today. I placed the box, so he can hide in it, and the brown paper packing so he can lounge on the floor with it...

I feel bad, but he needed to get that 'cork' out....He wants to hide... he wants to run away.. poor thing..Artie does not understand what is going on.....

Tomorrow, I will be cleaning this place.. I will dump the litter, the trash, the Litter Genie, wash all the other towels, wash his bathroom, and try to bathe Artie...

Wish me luck...

He is really obsessed with finding a Tent to hide away.. I took his quilt tent away.. he does not understand.. I feel so bad for him..

I have a candle on, and it is not helping the stink in here.. The temp is in the 20's, so I do not dare open the window...it would probably freeze open..

thanks for listening to me...

I am so sorry for Artie.
That's a lot for him to go through, and you, too. Bless his heart. This is a time when you wish he could talk to you so you can explain.

Wishing away the next couple of hours so I can take care of my kitty client, lol. Maybe I'll prep for the soup that I'd planned on making, but decided against making.

Just began an eight hour journey to goback to my cats after a long weekend away. I miss cuddling up with them.

but what could I do?  I had a cat on my butt!
Ozzy really is a terrible influence on me.  I was going to go into the office early and get my bookkeeping done so I could have the rest of the day free, but here it is almost 10 a.m. and I'm still in jammies, sitting at the computer.  But it isn't my fault!  I have a cat on my lap!

I'm being lazy here on the computer. Aaron is being lazy right now watching a movie. It's a really wet, dreary day out there.

I keep popping on here in between reheating food, mixing up dips, etc.
