Happy one year anniversary Mocha. What a lovely story. Glad you found your hooman.
Ah, the drool! Proof pawsitive of utter trust and relaxation in cats. Lord help us, even their compliments are wet!Mocha is lying on my lap right now, purring and drooling just a bit.
What a gorgeous photo! Fluffy white kitten, rich burgundy background. Beautiful. Happy birthday, King Spencer!Spencers baby photo. October 19 was his 13th birthday. This boy is the smartest cat ever. He is a little devil! When I brought him home, he strolled out of the carrier, looked around and it was like he said, "Okay, I am home, I am King, and this is the way things are going to be...."
Today is my sweet Mocha’s one-year anniversary as a part of my family. She came to the sanctuary as a terrified, semi-feral two-year-old whom no one could touch (she sent a staff member to the emergency room with a serious bite wound). She was three when I brought her home and still scared, still untouchable.
Mocha (then Martha) at the sanctuary in late 2016. *No touching, hoomin.*

Mocha during the first two weeks at her new home in October 2017, safe in her “cave.” I had to use the zoom on the camera. *No touching, hoomin.*

December 2017–Mocha ventures out into the family room and into her new bed...but keeps a close eye on me. Still using the zoom but she’s more relaxed. But, *No touching, hoomin.*

In March 2018, she gets into my lap for the first time long enough for me to get a picture. Then she extends every single claw into my knees and legs and propels herself halfway across the room. Ow. *You may touch me now. No, wait! Too much!*

By April, she’s spending long periods of time in my lap and following me around the house. *I love you. You are mine.*

And by May, she is showing such trust! *I love you. And combing. I love combing.”

The sanctuary told me she would never be adopted because no one could touch her. She hid every time someone came into the room. My sweet Mocha. I think she was waiting for me. *I am safe. I am loved. I am home.*

BELATED HAPPY GOTCHA DAY, SPEEDY!Six years ago today, October 10, I adopted Speedy from the local rescue!
I guess that makes it my Speedy's Gotcha Day!
View attachment 256531 Speedy, her first photo with my new camera! She has beautiful blue eyes as you can see here.
The rescue provided this photo with Speedy's bio, it is her youngest photo I have - View attachment 256533 about 9 months here, I am glad to have this photo of her as a young cat.
Mostly, the things you would notice about Speedy is that she is very sweet, affectionate, quiet and very easy-going.

HAPPY GOTCHA DAY, SPEEDY!
Notacrazycatlady - Happy Birthday-ish to the gorgeous Angus! The more recent photo would fit nicely into this photo thread too!Happy birthday -ish to Angus. Based on his estimated age at his first vet visit, he was born around the end of October, 2017. He is one year old. The first picture is the day after I brought him home. The second picture is my one year old big boy.
A simple “purraise” is not enough, 1CatOverTheLine . October is clearly a magical month! Your Latin made me think of the mottos of two of the colleges where I worked: “lux esto” and “vita abundantior.” You have brought light and abundance to these small cherished lives. How lucky they—and you—are!.
Happy Birthday and Happy Forever Day to all of our October kitties!
October has been a very special month here these last seven years, since five new kitties have joined the Family! Last year, Mirò showed up here - an obvious stray and not a feral cat - just about at death's door, weighing less than five pounds. She's been the easiest cat ever (with a little help from White Tip) to socialise - since the moment she came in on October 5th - and she's a joy every day.
Three years ago, on October 24th, Black Friday - one of the wildest feral cats I've even known - came in from the cold, and three days later, with the help of a neighbour, we trapped her Daughter, Clawed-Ya as well. Both were untouchable for quite nearly six months, until they moved from the chicken coop into their own Cat Palace, where they suddenly seemed to understand that they were safe and Loved.
That brings us to Hallowe'en, seven years ago, when White Tip - who'd lived years outside as a feral cat - and her young Son, Oz, came in on a blustery night, on October 31st. I've known a great many feral cats over the course of sixty-four years, but White Tip was the wildest of them all, and no one believed that she'd ever be an house cat.
“Amor vincit omnia," wrote Virgil at the closing of the tenth and final Ecologue, "et nos cedamus amori;" "Love conquers all, and to Love we must yield." The first couple of years inside, White Tip's almost-menacing posture said, "don't you dare ever touch me." Now, seven full years inside, when I pick her up and hold her, her posture says, "don't you dare ever let me go."
Happy Forever day to Mirò, Black Friday, Clawed-Ya, Oz and White Tip - and Happy Forever Day to every former feral, once-stray, and to every adopted kitty, each and every one of whom needed nothing more than a chance in Life to learn to allow themselves to be Loved - and to Love unconditionally!
