I noticed my cat has been grinding her teeth, today it was especially loud. She has IBD and has had diarrhea that is difficult to control. She eats like a horse, I feed her more than her 15lb brothers and she has put on a little weight finally. Then a few weeks ago I felt her chin and her fur was like matted with spittle. I thought maybe she was just getting her chin in her food, but it’s there today too. When I play with her chin it doesn’t seem to cause her pain. She hates having her mouth opened tho.

I have been giving her half a tab of pred morning and night and I stick my finger in the side of her mouth to get the pill in. Maybe I have been making things worse if she has mouth problems.

Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

Teeth grinding is often a sign of oral/dental issues. I would try to have a look at her teeth/gums and also have a vet take a look.
