Hmmm, that is very interesting! he sounds like such a characterOriginally Posted by heidrun
My Maine coon really lets me know if he wants something. Then he shouts out a loud MEOW. He also uses different sounds for different things. For example he has a special "I want milk" meow, and the weirdest thing is that it sounds like milk in Icelandic (something like miowlk), and I think he is really trying to immitate the sound because we alway say milk a lot (in Icelandic of course) when we give him one. He also thrills all the time, and its so funny that is always thrilling to my norwegian forest cat, and she is deaf!!! She thrills also even though she is deaf, and he thinks its so awesome that she also speaks his language, so he talks to her a lot, although she doesnt hear anything. I think its so interesting that those two cat breeds both thrill, and I think it is a sign that they are in fact more related then people believe.
He also barks kind of. Like when he is outside and I call him to come in, then he comes running, nearly runs me over in fact and barks like meowwbbbb and thrills. I guess its a signature coon bark. Then he has loads of other sounds, and yes he is very talkative.
