My daughters cat, Taco, somehow scooted out late yesterday. She is an inside kitty with her sisters, Mighty and Beefy.
My daughter and her family looked till dark and then my daughter was up all night long, walking the road, going through the woods....no Taco. This am she called me in tears....Taco was on the top of a high voltage phone pole at the road. Wires surrounded her.
My dh and I raced down there, I grabbed blankets to use as a drop zone. My sil had a ladder up the pole but came at least 15 feet short. The fire company couldn't do it because of the 40,000 volt line and major transformer. The power company guy, pretty much hung up on her. When the sheriffs dispatch heard of the ladder, they called the power company and then they did come out.
All the while, we are breaking speed limits trying to get there. I am riding, praying to my God, my mom, St. Francis.....nearly in tears myself. It is the kittens 1st birthday this weekend. What if Taco does not make it?
We pulled up right behind the power trucks. There she was, meatloafed on the crossbar of the "T" at the top of the pole. My daughter was a mess. Her two kids inside were devestated. My sil talking to the men.
They backed the truck in to get the right position for the bucket to go up. The guy got in....I went over and told them her name is Taco and to talk in a little high voice to her
.....and then the bucket started to rise. She stood up, scared and walked over the 40,000 volt line, her tail skimming it. My dh kept trying to turn me around....not to look. But I had to watch. Our hands were over our mouths...all of us. She got out to the end of the cross of the "t" and kept looking at a large maple tree probably 20 feet away. She was going to chance jumping to it. We are all saying....no...no....no.
Just as she had made up her mind to jump, he grabbed her!
OMG, we were so happy until she started to struggle. The bucket had only come down maybe 5 feet when he lost her and she flew through the air, hit the ground and ran. When my daughter got to her, she was standing straight up and mouth breathing. Her body was as hard as a rock. She must have been in shock. She took her in the house and slowly she came round in her arms. Eventually, she began washing. Tears flowed, the men were profusely thanked. A bunch of really good people. The man in the bucket risked his life around those wires to save a little kitty. Taco is going to the vet today to be checked out.
So, I guess I just want to say, never underestimate the power of prayer. As we were standing there after it was over, the one guy says, man I don't believe it. That was a lucky kitty. I thought, I believe it.
So, prayer, vibes, thoughts, good wishes. They are all important. And I guess, not all angels have wings......some wear hard hats.
